This is a really nice old pub, it's cozy. It's set in a village that now is right next to the main runways at Heathrow airport. There are planes landing every few minutes during the day so can get loud if seated outside. The pub has a central bar area which I believe is 17th century - it has exposed wood work and a really nice fireplaces. There is outdoor seating to the front and a makeshift beer garden area to the other side which I did feel was a little tacky, it seems to be a "makeshift structure" which really takes away from the main charm of the building. Also there was an indoor type home speaker just bolted up to the side wall outside which was the first item I saw when I went out. The beer was fine but was "central London" prices and I know this is likely since there is a fair contingent of tourists from the nearby hotels but the bill can rack up pretty quick if you're having a few pints and food. The bargirl who served us was lovely and the food was overall pretty good (again a little pricy). I did feel it was a good stop. Would recommend if you are a tourist in the local area to have a pint and some food. I personally would sit inside to soak up the character of the old part of the building and would be really nice in winter with the fire. Also, note the gents inside only has urinals, you have to go to the beer garden area if you need to use more extensive facilities. Finally, if you are a tourist staying in Hounslow, there are direct bus routes outside so you do not need to...

Read moreGot stuck at the airport overnight on our way back to the States. We were put up close at a hotel so we searched for local pubs. The White Horse had good reviews.
Watch your head! You walk down a couple of stairs and need to duck to get into the pub. It was great! Great service, friendly patrons, quaint and it had plenty of locals to talk to.
I give the food a 5, because we went there for the ambience and drinks. Not for the food. The good food was a bonus. If we had gone out for food, I would rate it a 4. We had the dirty chips, beef stew, lasagna Verdi and spicy squid. The chips could have been covered more with the toppings. The spicy fried squid was good. The lasagna could have used more seasonings. The beef stew was perfect. So, no complaints.
If you choose to smoke, there's an outdoor area that is covered where you can eat, drink and enjoy your tobacco.
The bathrooms were extremely clean.
