We held our mother's funeral reception at the woodman. The staff were very engaged from the start, understanding what we needed, giving us helpful choices and explaining the options for running the reception. They were very helpful in setting up the rolling images of mum on the big screen, provided a microphone with no fuss. It was a simple 8 minute journey from the crematorium. Everything was ready when we arrived, the staff were attentive, the food came when we asked and there were sufficient staff to cover the 60 people. We needed a venue at short notice for the wake following my Mums funeral and were directed to The Woodman on Joel Street. From the first enquiry to the end of the day we were delighted with the way that everything was dealt with. Julie and Perry were thoughtful and excellent communicators meaning we had little to worry about. The venue itself was exactly what we needed and everyone complimented the food. The team here go above and beyond to make sure your meal and experience is perfect.

We came in today with our autistic daughter and family and although there wasn’t anything on the menu that suited our daughter (she’s very very fussy) the owner was more than happy for us to bring our own food in for her and even provided cutlery etc for her.

This may seem like nothing but believe me, we’ve walked out of many restaurants because they have been unwilling to cater for our daughter’s needs.

The food was amazing and exceeded our expectations given how fairly priced it was.
