I went to the Black horse as I saw online they had a happy hour where their cocktails were slightly cheaper. It was a friday night and very busy in the pub. They only had 2 people working behind the bar, so there was a bit of a wait for drinks. When I chose the drink, I wanted 'aperol spritz'. I was told they had run out on tap and didn't have the ingredients to make it themselves. After looking some more, I chose porn star Martini. That was also on tap, but luckily, they hadn't run out. I got 2 of them on the deal. They were fine for an on tap cocktail but very small glasses, so I did not feel I was getting a good deal. The bar tender said the deal was either 2 small ones or one large one for the same price. So I got the two small ones. There was no prosecco with the porn star Martins. I had those drinks, then left to go somewhere else with a better deal. The pub was fine, service was slow but the two bar staff were frienly. The toilets were clean but could do with a makeover as they were old fashioned. As we only stayed for our first drink. So I didn't get to try the food. Although I have heard the food is good, the slow service and them not having the drink I wanted didn't make me feel like staying for food. Overall, it was fine for a local pub.

Had planned to try an Indian pub/restaurant that was dog friendly with parking this ticked the boxes. We had reserved table for 7 but the sitting wasn’t really planned well with sort of a stool for 7th person, too cramped but was soon adjusted upon mentioning of it. The cocktails were non existent, beer was on the tap. Papadums could be introduced on the house with the chutneys. We ordered quite a few starters and they all were good. Where it fell short was the main course the quantity was not doing justice to the price tag. Taste was decent little too saucy for the gravy. Karaoke is a good idea but the place is small and it was way too loud! An after meal sweet or something was missing. Parking is first come first served. Overall good except the few points specific above and will not hesitate to visit again.

A pleasant evening here, have been meaning to come for a while. We teamed up the visit with a pub quiz which was good fun and also enabled us to get 15% off the food bill by participating. Ordered a melody of starters and overall we were happy but could be improved slightly. Crispy bhajia was good and exactly as the name describes, crispy but not too thin. The chilli garlic mogo was ok, there could have been more masala and perhaps a slightly bigger portion. The platter was mixed, chicken items were better than the lamb options and the sauces were alright. Jeera chicken was decent We would definitely come back to try the main courses, karoga etc.. Internally it could do with some better lighting and modernising as it feels a little dated especially near the bar.

First time I went to this place, the food and service were great. Ordered a mixed grill along with other food. It was really nice to see that the food did have different flavours. Second time we went was this bank holiday. Great service, they were very hospitable got us a table... Brilliant. Ordered the mixed grill again, and this time everything tasted the same and the mince was raw in the sheekh kebab, we did mention this to Mick and he was great and honest, apologised etc. We later found out if you look in their website its owned by "Nick and Barry"... They don't, they haven't owned it for over a year and a half now, not that it makes a difference, but it's just a bit disappointing, you can see this is a lovely place but it's going down the route of all the other Indian pubs in the area, same tasting over priced food, loud blaring Indian music, nothing different to the other Indian pubs... This is a really nice place, lovely gardens, dog friendly and fantastic staff but unfortunately you can see this going down the route of another local dirty Indian man pub. I would go back but as someone has mentioned it is overpriced for what you are getting food wise. Thanks again to Mick, and all the bar and table staff, you guys make this place!!!!

To your response: There is in no way any grudge aimed at the new owners, especially when we do not know you at all, please do not throw accusations around.

My review was just an honest opinion from both observation & experience!!

Indian music was being played inside even though football was on, which we heard when going to the toilet.

The mention of "Nick & Barry" was from what we had seen on the website prior to visiting, and it does seem that the website has now been edited - which is fair enough, we have no problem with this at all!!!

I did not call either the customers or any member of staff a dirty old man, I said you can see the venue "going down the route of another local dirty Indian man pub" - please re-read my review. I feel you have taken more hostility to my review rather than constructive criticism, with compliments - please see I said your staff were fantastic, we like the fact that it is dog friendly, perhaps your response was in haste rather that fully reading my...

We had booked a table for Sunday evening for my mums special birthday roughly 10 days before the booking. It was a surprise for my mum with the family of approx 15 people. My cousin arrived early to find out they had no booking on the system! They had another party coming in and they couldn't fit us in. They had already taken a £75 deposit which had left my account. On arrival very shortly after, my mums suprise was ruined as the family gathered in the car park to wish her a Happy Birthday. It was very hard to find somewhere else to dine with such short notice. What made this worse was that we had my 86 year old grandmother, my 4 year of nephew, my 1 year old neice and a heavily pregnant lady. After about half an hour, I got my deposit back and as a good will gesture a bottle of pink gin. (beefeater) not the greatest deal! The manager/owner showed concern and was just as confused as to why our booking wasn't on their system. A member of the staff team came over to apologise on behalf of the staff team. Which was nice of him and clearly not his fault. I'm not entirely sure as to how this happened but it's definitely put us off going there again. Maybe the online system needs a review or an upgrade. I've only given this place a 1 star as the experience we've faced was bad and disappointing . The manager/owner offered us a special discount (25%) off next time and she did a fair deal to show she was sorry but Its just not good enough. I still cannot understand how something like this had happened in a professional...
