A friend and I booked this restaurant via TheFork for dinner at 7pm on Friday, September 6th. I was really looking forward to the meal based on such great reviews. Unfortunately, we didn't stay for dinner as I saw a mouse in the restaurant. When I saw it, my friend and I had only ordered drinks, so we thought we should finish them while deciding where we would go to instead. About 15 mins after seeing the mouse for the first time, I saw it again, this time scurrying towards the kitchen area. Less than 10 seconds later we heard a really loud gasp and a female staff member rushed out with her had on her chest and eyes bulging. (She exited the restaurant towards the hotel lobby). Once that happened, we immediately asked for the bill and told our server we wouldn't be staying to eat as we had seen a mouse. She said no problem, and that maybe we can eat there another time instead. (We weren't sure she heard us say we saw a mouse based on her reaction). She went to get the bill and her colleague (a gentleman - possibly manager) asked her why we were leaving and then came to ask us if everything was OK. I told him I saw a mouse and because of that, we won't be staying to eat. He responded by saying: "Yes, we saw it this morning, but have called pest control who will be coming tomorrow. It must have come from the back where the bins are when the door was open. You can look around the kitchen, it's clean, this is a 5 star restaurant. Of course we declined to look around, and asked if we could just have the bill. He again repeated that the kitchen is clean and pest control will be coming. As we were getting ready to walk out, he told me he had cancelled my reservation with TheFork (I assume to ensure I didn't get any points since we didn't eat there).
5 stars or not, it is the first time my friend and I have ever seen a mouse inside a restaurant and we were beyond shocked that staff knew about it running around and thought it was okay to keep the kitchen open. According to what the manager said about pest control, they should have visited today (Saturday, September 7th). Unfortunately, we will be avoiding this restaurant for the foreseeable future. I also submitted a Health and Safety report to Kensington and Chelsea Council as where there is one mouse, there are many and it would be a shame for a restaurant with such good reviews to be...

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Turmeric Kitchen Kensington. As residents of London, we were excited to bring our visiting family to what we thought would be a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite.
Upon entering, we were greeted with an unwelcome surprise from the manager, Vikas. I politely asked if he could plug in my phone to charge, only to be told rudely that they would charge £5 for this simple request. This was already a bad start, but it got worse.
We ordered some starters initially and decided to add more as our child wanted something else. When we called the waiter to add more starters, Vikas approached our table and rudely told us to order everything at once and not to keep calling them. His tone was unprofessional and disrespectful, especially since we were simply trying to accommodate our child’s needs.
Feeling utterly disrespected, we decided to cancel our additional order and asked for the bill. Vikas, with an obnoxious attitude, told us we could leave if we wanted to. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially when you are trying to enjoy a meal with family.
I am truly ashamed and saddened by the behavior we encountered at Turmeric Kitchen Kensington. Such rude and inhospitable treatment, especially with family visiting, is beyond disappointing. We will definitely not be returning and advise others to reconsider dining here if they expect even a basic level of courtesy...
Read moreThe restaurant, nestled within the lovely Park Grand London Kensington hotel, provided a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We had booked a table for Wednesday lunchtime before heading to the Japan House for an exhibition. Arriving slightly early, we waited in the cosy hotel lobby. There was a small mix-up with our booking, but the reception staff and manager handled it swiftly and professionally, ensuring we were seated promptly—a testament to their excellent customer service.
The attentive staff checked on us several times during our meal, making sure everything was to our satisfaction, which added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu offered a fantastic variety, catering to all preferences. Every dish was beautifully prepared, starting with the perfectly salted papadums served with three delicious dips. The salmon was cooked to perfection—not too raw, not overdone—and the pan-fried fish with its crispy skin, accompanied by saffron rice, was a standout. The vegetarian options, including the okra masala and yellow dal fry, were equally delightful.
Overall, the food was well-executed and presented with care. With its great food, attentive service, and lovely setting, I’d certainly return if I’m in the area again—this hidden gem deserves...
