I had a pretty poor experience in Tintico this morning. Went with a friend for breakfast. It was busy - Good Friday so this is to be expected. I ordered a coffee, orange juice and an eggs benedict. Friend ordered avocado on toast and a coffee. Was told upon ordering that the eggs benedict would be 10 - 15 minutes. That’s cool: it was pretty busy. Friend’s avocado arrived after ten minutes, apparently it was good. After 20 minutes I see a waitress carrying around a plate of eggs benedict, but she doesn’t come over to us so I assume it’s for someone else. After half an hour (during which time I see several other people getting annoyed about delays/wrong orders), I go up and ask after my eggs. The guy then pulls a plate of eggs benedict up from behind the bar and says “Oh sorry, we didn’t know where this was going”. The eggs are of course cold by this time. He tries to hand them to me, but I ask for a refund. Upon asking for a refund, I am told that a new member of staff had joined and hadn’t written my order down. I should have asked two questions at this point:
A.) If he didn’t write it down then why was it made? B.) If it was made but you didn’t know where it was going, why didn’t someone announce it, as you do with your coffees? Why let it stagnate behind a counter in silence?
But I didn’t cause of that Britishness. The second of these questions strikes me as being so rudimentary a point that I felt compelled to write this review. I understand that staff have to be trained and during busy periods there may be a wait for food: but what I experienced in Tintico today was pure stupidity. It gets a star because the coffee was good and apparently so was the avocado on toast, but I’m...

Great coffee, everything else is a massive let down.
We order breakfast with only two other people in the place at the time however, for some reason had to wait for over half an hour for the food to arrive. When it eventually did we had finished our drinks! The shakshuka was some chopped tomatoes with poached eggs dumped on top, feta cheese which was on the menu was missing from the plate so had to go and ask for it. One napkin for two people!
The place is dirty!!! Windows and door are smeared with finger prints and grime, cob webs, toilet door visibly grimy, floor not been cleaned for a long time. Pictures attached. You should be ashamed of yourselves for serving food in such a dirty environment!
One of the guys behind the counter kept going to the toilet as he was visibly unwell, after we left and stood waiting for the bus we saw him going to the local pharmacy to get some nose spray. If you’re ill, you should not be serving food. Another girl behind the counter kept coming out to stroke the dogs who were coming in and then she would go back to making coffee and serving plates of food without washing her hands. I could not believe my eyes!
Overall massive disappointed and I now wish we had asked for a refund and left. Will not be coming back! Do...
Read moreA well-positioned, cosy-yet-bright-&-cheery coffee shop situated very close to Finchley Central tube stn. Coffee is seriously good, with their de-caf being -- truly -- exceptional; by far & away the very best de-caf I've ever tasted in London. Literally, one cannot tell the difference between their de-caf & caffeinated--amazing feat!
Great for working with one's computer (yes, plug-points are avail.) and having a light pastry (no gluten-free, unfortunately--sad). I'm not aware of their other more substantial meals -- you'll need to enquire, but, I'm reasonably sure that there are. Classically, this is a great coffee-stop.
The overall experience is lovely, but, I must add that the service ethic can occasionally be, uh, "challenging"--unless YOU, the customer, makes an extra effort to be nice! Odd that the customer is expected to do this, but, if one can ignore this occasional, awkward service ethic, one can have a great time.
Visit & savour that de-caff while you work or take a pit-stop during the day to re-charge --...
