literally don’t know where to begin. I’m vegan but not the type of vegan that would continue going to a food spot just because it’s the only vegan one around. I would just cook my own. I’ve traveled many places and so far besides two other vegan restaurants out the country that are my fav, this has become my “ ultimate favorite”. I could not live here as I would at tofu vegan so much they literally would know me. I apologize ahead of time, as I am not too fond of food in London. Something made me actually look on tiktok which I never do and I kept seeing “Tofu Vegan” when I looked for the best vegan restaurants or food in London. This means nothing when I mentioned earlier some will still patronize an establishment just because it’s always available. I actually saw the “rolling joint, London food blog “, and the way he described tofu vegan being a non vegan made me want to check it out. His description was perfect and it didn’t sound like a “ click bait “ to watch their tik tok for views. I screenshot his recommendations and I saw that I was too far to make it for dinner at the time and sit and enjoy, so I ordered Uber eats.
So I ordered more than this but I had to remember I was alone and I will fly back to the US in the morning and there was no way to reheat anything. I ordered the Deep Fried King Oyster Mushroom with salt and sichuan pepper, wontons in a Spicy Sauce, Steamed Jiaozi Dumplings with Mushroom and Tofu and the Twice-Cooked Fish’.
Whoah the first thing I tried was the twice - cooked fish. 10/10 I felt like Anthony bourdain on “ no reservations”. Not greasy, flavorful, peppers were perfect. I did see some pairing suggestions and I see why. That was so good I had to tell myself in third person to leave it alone and eat the other items I ordered. I tried the oyster mushrooms and they were really good, cooked perfectly but the sauce was ok. ( not sure if would order again but it’s a good starter while at the restaurant I’m sure. The wontons where superb 9/10 with the right heat ( could’ve been hotter but it was not bad) I know this would have made me smile from ear to ear if again I had at the restaurant. I definitely would order again but would love to experience at the restaurant. The Steamed Jiaozi Dumplings with Mushroom and Tofu were good as well 8/10, yet it was really hard to compare with starting off with a home run. Very very flavorful, taste very meaty. Every meal option I had would definitely please a non vegan. Especially the wontons.
I believe this deserves a a full taste experience first as the menu is more extensive and Take out or delivery second which I am kicking myself for not going there. When I visit London again, I definitely know I will take a visit...

Read moreHave you tried plant-based meat before?
I love eating vegetarian meal in Asia because the plant-based meat made in Asia is very tasty and the texture is very close to real meat. In UK, I tried some of the local produced plant-based meats and found that the texture was too soft like eating peas or bean paste. So I rarely eat plant-based meat here.
@tofuveganlondon is a planted-based Chinese restaurant in Islington just 8 mins away from Angel station. I went to have lunch with my friends on Sunday without booking. They were full of people and we had to waited for around 15 mins for a table. But it really deserved to wait🥰
WHAT WE HAD 🥟Wontons in house special sauce 🥟Soupy Xiao Long Bao 🐟Twice-cooked ‘fish’ 🐑Stir fried ‘lamb’ with cumin and chilli 🫓Stir fried tofu and reserved vege with steamed lotus leaf buns
The ‘fish’ was added with a strip of seaweed to the edge of flattened plant based meat which I thought was beancurd. The seaweed provided a seashore kick and it’s really ‘fish’. It really surprised my meat lover hubby.
I love Xinjiang lamb skewer with lots of cumin. The stir fried ‘lamb’ with cumin and chilli did really impress me. The texture of ‘lamb’ was soft and tender which was very close to the real lamb. Love the taste as texture. Absolutely amazing 😍
Stir fried tofu and reserved vege with steamed lotus leaf buns were awesome. They used black bean and chilli to stir fried tofu and Chinese pickles. The lotus leaf buns were soft and perfectly balanced with the fillings.
How’s the wontons & xiao long bao? See my next post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for details🤗
All the dishes were amazing and flavourful. I can say even meat lovers will be impressed...
