Tokia Square Croydon — Restaurant in London

So we had high expectation of this place after reading about its grand opening. So today took family to the sushi buffet at tokia square. They had offer of half price main price at £33 per person. So it was £16.50 per person plus 5% service charge. So for 4 of us £70 thats 2 adults and 2 children.

So after paying it all goes badly wrong. There is only 28 seats for the sushi buffet. And it operates on a conveyer belt. Where there should be food on small dishes circulating around constantly. But the problem here is that the food was coming out on to the conveyer belt though one window near one section of seating. So basically those sitting closest got fed while those away from the window had scraps. Because there was literally no food coming out on the conveyor belt. It was bare empty. The kitchen was slow to get food on the belt . There was no urgency or understanding of delivering food service promptly. Not only that. The people seated near the window had to wait aswell so when it came out they literally scarmbled for it. And the people further along the conveyer got nothing. It was a horrendous set up. We did get some dishes. However, the choices of food was limited and only average in quality not stunning.

While we were there we also saw a Other people complaining about the food not coming out quick enough on the conveyer belt. Waiting for food. At times there was nothing at all and all 28 seated people were looking at the window as to when food was coming out.

A women had paid for her 2 children to have sushi there and was seated furtherest away from the window and had not eaten anything because of the organisation and limited food on the conveyor. They complaint and left. I would of done the same.

The service was poor. I was wondering what the 5% service charge i was paying for.

It was a horrendous experience after all the buzz on instagram and youtube.

I will never return to the sushi at tokia square and i do not recommend. I cannot comment about the food or service at the other food stations. Because we were so fed up of the bad experience at sushi buffet that we did not try the other food as we had already spent £70.

We had a 2 hour time limit, eat as much as you can, but after 1 hour we got up and left. I had to complain to the manager there and give my feed back as i could see the other people also had the same look of frustration and unhappiness.

I dont normally make reviews but I felt that this warrants my opinion of my experience there today so it give you and others who might be considering going for the sushi at...

I'd like to start with overall all that was wrong with daiu - service was abysmal, hair in food, rotten meat and poor customer service during resolution of complaint.

Also would like to preface there was max 10 guests – half of which had finished eating anyways. And there was at-least 3 staff members on the floor.

We had 0 explanation of ordering system, waited 20 mins for them to take the first food order and waited a further 30 minutes for items to come. Same again sheets filled out and took atleast 20 mins to be taken and 20 to come. (Remember there's only five guests at this point). So just very slow and I couldn't imagine what it's like when it's busy.

During the first round of food my partner and I both found hairs in our food but didn't say anything to each other as we desperately wanted to enjoy this place after waiting for it to open. We didn't even bother to mention this amongst the other issues

When the second round came out they served us ROTTEN pork and tried to pass it off as soy marinated waitress even claiming she did it herself (like a waitress is prepping food???) as you can see in the picture it's just rotten. They don't even sell sliced pork marinated in soy.....

I politely requested a partial refund and she did try to offer alternatives but I was so disappointed and just didn't want anything but my money and to go home - I then requested a manager who basically ran away after I explained the issue.

After this the overall manager Tommy came and listened and resolved and told her to give the partial refund. He said he can't definitively say who's right about the pork but understands the service issue. In my opinion he handled it as best as he could without blatantly throwing her under the bus.

Cheeky lady tried to refund £17 of the £58.80 spend. So I said after all this I want a full refund and at minimum it would've been half. She agreed once I said I'll get the manager AGAIN.

Please save your time, money and peace and avoid this place at allll costs. Worst dining experience I've ever had.

Also half of the sauce station was empty and the cross contamination so bad I wouldn't go if you had a peanut allergy – they also neglected to ask about allergies. Also no labels for which item is which at...
