Lovely, unique pub in Croydon of all places! With applause worthy bar staff free samples of the beers, ales and ciders and slushy cider!
Honestly, I wanted to give the barman a round of applause. He was knowledgeable about the beers, ales and ciders and seem genuinely to want to find the right drink for my friend. Even though I was not drinking the barman recommended a cider after hearing me say I liked it he recommended the slushy cider which appealed to the big kid I am very much. It was so nice to have a barman so well able to read the clients and he made us feel so welcome with his lovely big grin too.
The bar itself is stunning. A lovely two tiered pub with a beautiful restored old wood floor. Chilled colours are on the walls. It is very spacious. There is a big vintage/music vibe here with some great posters and frames of music performers. I think the crowd that would go here would easily be a mixed one from about the mid to late twenties and up.
It honestly is a little sanctuary of a pub, easily a trendy place to go and spend a few hours sampling the beers, ales and ciders.
Five stars were given for the excellent barman, the novelty of free samples and slushy cider and the breadth of ales, ciders and beers available all presented in a beautifully laid out bar within a...
Read moreI went there because I had heard so much about their vegan cuisine. I am not from the UK and I always try to find vegan food when I travel.I ct there with company about 10 min before nine on a cold cold night. The place didn't seem full but the table we sat was dirty and sticky. We take the menu and a few minutes go by and I got up to go order at the bar. It was just a minute before 9 and the bartender told me we couldn't order anything because the kitchen closes at 9. Wow had we known maybe we would run to the bar to order as we got in! I mean come on!!!He said sorry the kitchen is closed. He was not overtly rude but very matter of factly stood his ground like I was asking for charity. The problem was there was nothing else around to eat for miles and as we were leaving 10 min later there was food served at an other table next to us! I felt they just excluded us on spite. If they served food for them even if they had ordered at 8.45 they should in good faith take our order as well. The place was dead any way but I guess they didn't want the business. I mean come on!!! I have no desire to go...
Read moreToday I went to the green dragon pub for my lunch , & I'm a regular guest, unfortunately, may dwindle. They had unforeseen circumstances & issues that made the lunch delayed, which makes me really concerned, as I only have an hour. By the time it came I only had less then half an hour to eat my lunch, which is unhealthy, as people can suffer incongestion by eating quickly so they don't get late back to work again, not good enough. I had to chase it up, twice ,& the bar people who serves our foods/ hot drinks expecially the short bobbed hair bar lady got bulshy, all just because I got stressed cause of waiting too long, unnecessary for my lunch, who wouldn't be. That green dragon pub is supposed to be my regular place for my lunchtime from work, & now, I'm beginning to feel like a burden, always complaining about food being served late, when it's no fault of ours. Unfortunately for the green dragon pub, I'm gonna take a long break from it, till the issue sorts itself out. I've always made welcomed, but, sadly, not anymore for a while. GOODBYE GREEN DRAGON ...
