If youâre lucky enough to grab your coffee from Uncommon, make sure you meet Maisie, the absolute superstar of baristas!
I admit that before meeting Maisie, I hardly ever came here. Now? I practically live for her lattes. Theyâre that good, Iâm convinced sheâs sprinkling some kind of magic in there (or maybe itâs just talent).
Maisie isnât just good at making coffee; sheâs a ray of sunshine. Friendly, helpful, and delightfully witty, she has this incredible way of brightening your day no matter how grumpy you might have been walking in. Sheâs always on the ball, effortlessly attentive to customersâ needs, and somehow remembers everyoneâs order like she has a superpower.
So, bosses, if youâre reading thisâplease, do the right thing: give Maisie the massive pay rise she deserves (and maybe a bonus while youâre at it). The world needs more people like her, and this coffee shop is better for having her.
PS your lasagne is 10/10 and your new staff member Ollie is lovely too!
MAJOR UPDATE! I also have to give Toni a massive shout out!, Toni is so friendly, attentive, and has a remarkable talent for anticipating your needs before you even ask. From the perfectly placed straws/napkins/sugars/cutlery to the really thoughtful questions about your day, every interaction with him feels personalised and uplifting.
He, like amazing Maisie, always goes the extra mile to make sure youâre happy. Honestly, if Toni or Msisie ever leave, Iâd probably follow them out the door along with a bunch of loyal regulars. Seriously, Toni (or Tony, if you prefer!) also deserves a pay rise for keeping this wonderful cafĂ©...

I have a nut allergy and recently purchased a milk chocolate cookie from this cafe after being assured that it was nut free and told that the waitress had double checked the allergen information. When I went to eat the cookie I discovered what was definitely a nut in it. Not wanting to continue eating I asked the waitress if I could read the allergen information myself to double check. She was then unable to find the information she had supposedly just found moments before and called her manager on the phone. I eventually spoke to him and he told me they had changed suppliers and did not yet have the information for the new products they were selling. He did claim however that he had read the ingredients for the cookies and knew there were no nuts in them and argued it must be cross contamination. He said he would send then allergen information to me via email. I am still yet to receive any communication from him.
It is complete negligence to be selling products without the requisite allergen information and if customers have severe allergies they risk anaphylaxis which can be fatal. Please do not...
Read moreI moved to this area in March 2022 and get my daily morning coffee from uncommon since. As a coffee addict, I have tried all places on Northcote Road - they definitely serve the best coffee (Better than Gails and so much more friendly!) The product selection is delicious and of the best quality. I can highly recommend the Oil, soup, all sorts of cheeses/charcuterie, crackers and fresh sourdough bread (not to forget Manners from Austria!!). The service staff is the best and friendliest in London. Once you become a regular, they are treating you like a friend and always have a smile on their...
