Absolutely disgusting service provided at Wake Up on our recent visit. We have been loyal customers for years and have often found it a lovely experience. However, based on our recent visit, I would say to avoid them at all costs as it transpires they are money grabbing and completely conned us into paying double for a breakfast. We ordered the avocado and egg on toast priced at £8.50, for one piece of toast, a small smattering of avocado and one egg (quite steep already for an establishment in chingford). And we asked for one extra egg and some more avocado from their extras menu (priced at £1.50 and £2 accordingly) so we assumed that would be £12, but no Wake Up Chingford had other ideas and decided to charge us double the price and £17, for Avocado and Egg on toast!!! We tried to state our case that the price was wrong and the rude woman at the till claimed we had had two breakfasts, which was false. You cannot have an extras section on a menu and then charge people double a whole breakfast! Take note people, massive con and it’s such a disappointment because we have always supported local and have been supportive of this business for a number of years. But this has really left a sour taste in the mouth unfortunately. I would seriously advise thinking twice before supporting this business, especially as there are other lovely coffee shops in this same street, and make sure you check your bill if you do, as they may try...

Came in and asked a woman cleaning tables if we could sit anywhere as it was almost empty. She said yes ofc. After 10 mins I got up to look for some menus myself as had not been approached or acknowledged. nor did the woman offer one. Ordered a breakfast and for the price was absolutely diabolical. The food looked like the chef used a catapult to plate it up. I hoped the presentation would not represent the food, but it did. Toast on top of the food hiding everything. Had to eat it first as they do not give you a side plate to put your toast on. I had poached eggs and could see they had not been drained off before obviously just being slung onto my plate as they had a puddle of water around them. Used a tissue to get rid of some of it. The bacon made me feel sick to look at. ( Pic attached with added egg water lol). Yellow fat all over it and barely cooked. Never seen bacon come in so many colours! The beans were in seperate ramekins but so over done they was all mushy. The servers were friendly young lads who were polite and upbeat. Coffee was nice. Will not be returning. Do not...

I know 5 stars for every section is overkill, but honestly, if I could give more I would.

I would walk past this coffee shop to go to others. I don't know why I was hesitant about eating here, until my friend invited me to meet her here. The food was simple, well made and delicious.

I came back with my partner and tried something else, the bacon pancake stack. It induced a mouth-gasm.

We've come back numerous times and have tried various dishes, every one has been well made, and reasonably priced. If I were to say a fault on something I've recently eaten, it would be a touch more hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict.

In my opinion, it's not just the food that makes a place 5/5, it's the service too. The waiter and waitress are polite, even when I'm the one who messed up on the order. The atmosphere is lively midday and calm after the lunch time rush, the back ground music is just that, back ground. Their bathrooms are clean, and I love that it's dog friendly.

If you're in chingford and looking for simple, delicious food, Wake Cup...

I’m so surprised that I’ve never seen this cafe before, as I often frequent Chingford station. Although I didn’t eat anything and it was my friend who purchased a coffee and a cake, which she loved, I have given this place a five star rating purely because of the personable service and lovely atmosphere. My friend and I were served my two lovely women who we found out later to our surprise that they are the co-owners. I was surprised as for me, it’s unusual to be served my the owners themselves and for them to be so genuinely pleasant. They have lots of seats here but one thing to be aware of if you don’t like dogs, is that dogs are permitted inside. They also sell a lot of quirky chocolates that have unique flavours, which was nice. I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to returning and trying their food/beverages.
