I have ordered from Walnuts Cafe on Uber Eats a few times now. Their food has always been excellent with a good variety menu. I really like their signature salad which contains blue cheese, sliced apples and pears, rocket and walnuts and I have ordered this every time as it's so different to the usual salads. This time I ordered gammon steak which is a big piece in butterfly style with a slice of pineapple and a fried egg on top with a tasty side salad and a choice of chips or potato variety. Their millionaires shortbread is also fab with the caramel not being too sweet (although it usually arrives slightly melted because it gets packed in the bag in a separate cardboard box but next to the hot food - I just put it in the fridge to set again). The food is always delivered very hot and always tastes so fresh and prices are reasonable. They always pack everything in sustainable packaging. I have yet to try their breakfast menu but it looks delicious and such a variety. UPDATE APRIL 2023: The food here is still good but I can't believe how the prices have gone up so much in the last few months. I added 1 cumberland sausage to my meal and it was £3.05! You can buy a pack of 6 cumberland sausages in the supermarket for less than £3. Their signature salad is now £11.20. I would like to be able to order food from here more often but I simply cannot afford their prices to eat from here more than on the odd occasion. I am clearly in the wrong line of work 😀

I went to Walnuts for lunch today as they have a large range of choice and I ordered a chicken salad. I asked what the dressing on the salad was and they said it was Caesar. I advised I was dairy intolerant and if I could have the salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead, I also asked for no onion. When the salad arrived it had Caesar dressing on it, I advised once again I was dairy intolerant and I had asked for balsamic vinegar and olive oil. They took it back and were quick to replace it. I looked under the chicken and saw they had lifted the chicken off the salad and placed it on top of the new salad as it had the dressing on the bottom of it. I pointed this out to the staff again but said I didn't want another one. They took this back and brought out yet another salad that still had Caesar dressing on it (which doesn't show up too well in the photo unfortunately) but this time they added the onions to the salad. Needless to say I didn't eat the salad, then when I went to pay I had to explain to two people why I wasn't going to pay for it. My friend ordered smashed avocado on toasted gluten free bread with poached eggs. The eggs were not cooked properly. They were slimy and the avocado only came on one of the two slices of toast. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience and certainly won't be going back there. It's a shame as I met my boyfriend there for the first time and we tended to go back each year.

A disappointing experience. We've placed a large order for a family dinner that was supposed to be delivered by Uber Eats. When the order arrived, many dishes were missing. Upon calling the restaurant, we were told that they didn't notice that the driver hadn't picked up the whole order and they can't do much about it now - either we pick it up ourselves or they refund the missing items. I went over to collect and was given a missing bag. I was offered a free coffee, but kindly declined as I don't drink coffee at all (probably saving myself from another disappointment). When I left the restaurant, one of the waiters had to chase after me with one more bag they forgot about. That's about the service. Now food, attached is a photo of a gourmet burger with extra bacon and cheese, which is the saddest thing I've seen in some time. The burger was dry and no sauce was provided. My wife's turkey was dry as well, and my son found his steak overcooked. You will be much better with an order from Hello Burger, Trattoria or Limoncello - food from there is consistently delicious. I can only hope our experience is more of an exception than a general rule, but I'd recommend the management do a review of they want to succeed.

My friend and I recently visited Walnuts cafe and had an experience that left us feeling disappointed and uncomfortable.

When we placed our order, the person taking orders had a language barrier. To ensure she understood, we repeated our order twice. However, when the food arrived, it still wasn’t correct and needed to be adjusted. Later, when we asked for the bill, I noticed I was charged full price for a dish I had chosen from the kids’ menu. Still, I was willing to pay without any issue.

The manager came over, and I explained what had happened. As an apology, she removed an item from the bill. However, when she returned with the revised bill, she made a comment that left me shaken. She pointed out that she remembered me from a previous visit, saying, “You sat at table 19 last time, and you had a problem with the bill then. I remember this vividly because I dealt with you.”

Her tone made me feel as though she was implying we were trying to get out of paying. I felt uncomfortable and almost embarrassed, as if we were being seen as “cheap.” To make matters worse, she added, “Next time when you come, please place your order clearly .”

Begin a regular customers this experience left a very negative impression. We felt we were treated as if we were at fault when we had been understanding throughout. Needless to say, we don’t plan on returning to...
