Update: We have been coming to this cafe a couple of times a week for coffee, cake and often lunch since it first opened. We have recently noticed a definite increase in the prices and today we also noted a decrease in the quantity so we are wondering if the honeymoon period is over. For instance, today’s meal consisted of one potion of jammy eggs, one potion of huevos rancheros and one Kombucha to share, and the bill was £32.24, pretty steep for the amount of food. Besides, the jammy eggs had half the amount of avocado they normally do and the huevos half the amount of beans. I do hope this is a one-off rather than their new policy because if it isn’t, we will have to move our custom elsewhere. Previous review: Excellent addition to the neighborhood. I have been here quite a few times already, the coffee is always strong and flavorsome, probably the best you can have in the area if you want to stay indoors. The owner has invested in creating an airy, bright and modern space and the pots and plants are appreciated. The food is delicious (pictured the jammy egg on sourdough with avocado and feta, for which I have now developed an addiction), well done to the staff in kitchen. The pleasant staff making the coffee and serving are also working hard. The bathroom is spacious and cleaner than other places in Dulwich. The wifi is awful (in an area where mobile data mostly doesn’t work). By 11:00 on a Monday morning, they had run out of pastries. And on a Saturday morning, it was full of loud little people, high chairs and buggies. That’s fine if you are in that phase in your life, but not so great for others meeting a friend for breakfast and a chat. It is what drove us away from other cafes in the area, and here they have two rooms, they could encourage people with buggies to take one and leave the other to those who want a more peaceful experience. As it is, I will continue to go for coffee and a snack but struggle to think of West 16th as a relaxing environment that I would want to try out for dinner. Which is a shame as clearly the kitchen staff are talented.

A dear friend kindly organised my baby shower here recently on a Saturday afternoon (from 2pm-5pm) and it was so lovely and intimate. Food was delicious (especially the sandwich and with roasted tomatoes with whipped feta, the mini carrot cakes and chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache). Lucy was extra attentive and helped with flower arrangements and beautiful extra touches and they kindly kept the area open an extra hour for us after the main restaurant closed. Would definitely recommend for any special event! Thank you!

A new neighbourhood gem, serving mouth-watering, freshly made, generously portioned, salads, sandwiches, pastries, cakes and coffee. I ordered a mixture of 4 salads to share with a friend, a glass of English fizz, a slice of gluten-free chocolate cake that had recently come out of the oven, and a coffee with oat milk on the side, served beautifully on a wooden board. The service was charming, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and it is perfectly located between Herne Hill and Dulwich. One not to miss.

West 16th in Dulwich – A Hidden Gem for Coffee, Food, and Warm Vibes

If you’re searching for a place that does it all—amazing coffee, fantastic food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere—West 16th in Dulwich should be at the top of your list. This cosy little café offers everything you want in a local favorite: exceptional drinks, mouthwatering food, and genuinely friendly staff that make you feel right at home the moment you walk in.

The coffee is outstanding! Whether you’re after a bold espresso, a velvety flat white, or a perfectly crafted latte, the quality here is undeniably top-tier. They take their coffee seriously, with beans that result in rich, smooth flavors every time. My drink was a delight—well-balanced, full of depth, and made with care. Coffee enthusiasts will absolutely fall in love with this place.

What surprised me just as much as the coffee was the incredible food. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering everything from light bites to hearty meals, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Whether it's a freshly baked pastry to accompany your morning coffee, a delicious sandwich, or one of their more indulgent dishes, the flavors are incredible. Each dish feels like it’s been created with love and attention to detail. It's clear they use fresh, high-quality ingredients to craft meals that elevate your café experience into something truly special.

The ambiance makes West 16th a place you won’t want to leave. It’s cosy and inviting, with just the right mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. The soft lighting, comfy seating, and welcoming decor create an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and vibrant. It’s the ideal spot for anything: catching up with friends, tackling some work, or just enjoying a quiet moment with your coffee and a delicious plate of food.

What truly sets this café apart, though, is the amazing team. The staff here are so friendly and attentive, you feel like a regular even on your first visit. They’re always happy to recommend drinks or dishes and make sure everything is just perfect. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and they truly make the experience unforgettable.

Whether it’s for a quick coffee run or a relaxed meal, West 16th in Dulwich is one of those places where you leave already planning your next visit. The combination of exceptional coffee, amazing food, and warm service is unbeatable, and the cosy vibe is the icing on the cake.

Highly recommended—whether you’re a foodie, a coffee lover, or simply looking for a welcoming spot to relax, this café has it all. A real gem in Dulwich that I’ll happily return to time and...

My partner and I spotted this new place open on Half Moon Lane and were excited to spend our Sunday trying it out. However, we left feeling deflated and really quite disappointed.

The location is ideal - a few minutes walk away from the bustle of the station and busy Sunday market. It looks lovely from the outside. The inside is a large airy space, which is so brand new it's currently a bit characterless and a little too clinical. Nothing a bit of wearing in can't rectify.

We ordered a cappuccino and an iced oat latte. Unfortunately both were watery.

At first we were told that they weren’t able to make the iced latte. The server was duly corrected whilst at our table by another team member. When I finally received the coffee it was made with whole milk and not oat, as requested. When I returned the coffee the server was quite confrontational and blamed both watery coffees on the inclusion of ice..

The brunch menu was uninspiring for the prices. We enquired about the toasties which apparently are an a separate menu to brunch but another server simply stated they only had cheese, or ham and cheese - very basic. We choose a ham & cheese which was OK - the cheese hadn’t been melted at all and the toast was sharp.

…Overall, it didn’t get the basics right which means we won’t be rushing back.

It’s a real shame as Herne Hill could really use a top notch brunch spot and undoubtedly West 16th has all the makings of being the answer. Hoping these are just teething problems and with a bit more time it’ll be able to reach...
