Brockwell Lido is on the corner of Brockwell Park just off Dulwich Road; the lido has been a much-loved local landmark at the heart of the Brixton community since 1937. I enjoy visiting new places to swim; I had wanted to visit Brockwell Lido for some time; I like trying to combine a trip somewhere with a swim; I was working in London, so I took the opportunity to visit. I travelled from my home in Hampshire on the train; I then took a taxi directly to the lido; I don't recommend doing this; getting a cab back into London after my swim was expensive and complicated. As a disabled person, I don't enjoy using the underground; it makes me anxious. Not all underground stations are accessible either; I don't know London well, which doesn't help either. The Victoria Line is the last Tube to Brockwell Lido in Herne Hill; it's worth checking. I may need to be corrected. There is limited parking outside the lido, with some disabled parking bays. I visited in the winter on a bright but cold day. The lido is not heated; you can wear a wetsuit in the winter months if you wish. Before my swim, I found a place to get changed on the floor. There is a changing room; however, as an amputee, getting myself sorted closer to the pool is much easier. There is a hoist to get disabled users in and out of the water; it's worth asking beforehand if it's available. The water was cold during my swim, but I found the water to be clean, and the visibility was perfect. Although I didn't use it, there is a cafe in the lido called The Four Hundred Rabbits; I couldn't find their details on the pool website. It looks well worth checking out. Brixton is incredibly lucky to have Brockwell Lido; I wish we had one closer to where I live. It's a fantastic place to visit.

I have been a member since 2021. I love the community and it’s the only nearby leisure centre to me, but since joining the situation at the lido has gone from bad to worse. Fusion (lido service provider) are taking advantage of the community, running our local lido into the ground. The centre is dirty, smells of sewage, and there are flies all over the spa area. it is completely unhygienic & unsafe. In female locker rooms, only about half the lockers actually work. It is similar for the Men's. gym equipment is in dire straits, with people queuing to use the stair master and treadmills, as about 80% of gym equipment doesn't work. the spa is one of the dirtiest areas, and the steam room has only been operational about 50% of the time since 2021. the hydrotherapy pool has not been operational since 2022, and remains unclean/with dirty water lingering at the bottom (see photos taken June 25th). the pool reportedly has a leak, and is often very dirty. the situation at the lido is getting out of hand. it is a profitable centre but it is being run to the ground, at the detriment of our community and members. The staff are all amazing and hold the whole place together. It makes me sad that they have to work under pitiful conditions that could be avoided if the centre was run for the community, not profit.

Stunning to look at until you get up close. Pool is lovely, and we are so lucky to have such an iconic lido on our doorstep but frankly, it’s not being looked after… The facilities here are shabby for the £8 you pay to get in to lie in dirty concrete slabs they cannot even be bothered to pressure wash clean and clear the weeds. The sauna is out of action, chemicals stored in public areas and ladies poolside changing room is frankly appalling. (broken toilet seats, broken loo roll dispensers which have clearly been broken for ages) …and not clean. If I was the general manager of Brockwell Lido, I’d be rather embarrassed. Such a shame Fusion does not take more pride in its assets it is operating.

The changing rooms and toilets are filthy - I agree with other reviewers that they’re so dirty I sometimes end up going home soaking just to avoid them.

The booking system, website and app are nonsensical. You can’t move or cancel your slot - even when I had COVID they wouldn’t let me move it. At £8 a pop and plenty of people willing to pay for the slots during summer this seems daft. This also means that you don’t have a chance of getting into a popular slot (even if people don’t show up) unless you book a week ahead. Surely it would be more efficient to allow people to cancel their slot IF someone else books it.

The customer service is hugely understaffed. I tried calling over 40 times over several days to get hold of the lido and no response. Same with trying to contact the Fusion Lifestyle head office. Ended up doing the 1.5 hour round walk just to ask a question which is ridiculous. Asked the person on the front desk if I could check the phone number as I’d called so many times…they said it was right but that they often just can’t answer the phone. Plus when you arrive you’re often waiting ages for them to manually check everyone in (and you are not allowed to enter even 5 or 10 min early to get changed…why?!) Don’t think this is at all an issue with the staff (and I feel sorry for them because I’ve seen people being really rude to them many many times because of these issues as I’ve been ageing in the queue..). It is clearly an issue with Fusion Lifestyle who aren’t employing enough staff to be on the front desk or clean the place.

The pool itself is lovely - often murky and dirty at the deep end but I wonder if this is just because it’s an outdoor pool. I’d really recommend the pizza and beer place next door. It’s nice if you can grab a sun bed and avoid the mucky changing rooms! Brockwell park is a gorgeous surrounding too.

Overall, I think it’s expensive for disgusting changing rooms and poor service - again not criticism of the staff but says a lot about Fusion Lifestyle. It’s such a shame because if there weren’t these issues I would absolutely have a pool and gym membership. But I would sadly recommend...

I came here with my friend on Sunday 30th June ; after 1.5 hrs I just wanted to just pop to my car and come back as I had forgotten something in there ... so I simply asked if I could be let back in ...what I didn’t expect was the sheer rudeness of the staff. They’re full of attitude and arrogance. This woman said ‘no, because of health and safety!’ Which I didn’t understand so I asked her to explain why me being let back in would pose a health and safety issue(I wasn’t being rude, I just asked why). She rudely pointed to a sign BEHIND me saying no re admission (if you want people to see it maybe put it in a visible place and certainly don’t act like it was silly of me to miss it); she then sighed and shrugged her shoulders suggesting I should come and run the place if I like. I mean, are you serious? I wasn’t being rude, I wasn’t being out of order I was simply asking to be let back in on a ticket I had paid for the day; not unreasonable to question a ‘computer says no attitude’; her then so called manager came round and said ‘you can leave now’... I was shocked as she had not been privy to our conversation... of course I left and didn’t even want to be let back in- disgusting attitude!

facilities could do with a clean and refurbishment! bathrooms are disgusting and the actual toilets were broken and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages; you also can’t access the lido cafe from the pool, and are expected to leave and walk round the whole building; we wanted a drink and the lifeguard said we could go in and he moved the rope to the side to let us in... only for the waitress to tell us off when we did so! We pointed out that the lifeguard had let us in and she rolled her eyes at him. This place could be lovely but it’s organised so poorly by rude and incompetent staff with stinking attitudes; reception staff should maybe consider a non customer friendly role as they do not have basic customer service skills; and lifeguards and bar staff should maybe Learn to communicate amongst each other... I was disgusted by how I was spoken to! Would never...

The Lido has a gym, spa and a swimming pool and is located inside the Brockwell park. The hygiene standard for the dressing rooms and toilets is good and the equipment for training and fitness are varied with trained instructors to guide clients. Staff working at the facility are very polite and friendly. There are also spaces to park one's bike outside. Lovely, lovely place. At times the lockers at the dressing room may be inadequate during peak periods these are usually times when offices have closed and clients attend

As at July 2025, some of the lockers in the changing room have not been functional meaning they are not secure and clients have to leave their clothes or valuables without security. Some are permanently locked hence reducing the numbers available. Some lockers just need battery replacement to secure the locking electronic mechanism but the staff who check do nothing. It is now also taking lots of weeks to replace broken cables in the multi gym machines. Some treadmills have stopped working. Bathrooms are getting dirtier and drains are littered in some cases with lots of human hair. The swimming pool is extremely overcrowded causing bits and pieces of tiny debris and spittle inside it here and there. Meanwhile the membership fee and monthly subscription have increased. I only now use this gym because my house is just about 7-8 minutes walk away. I have observed a few friends have gone to other gyms as the situation is not improving. I doubt if the staff care at all although we still have a few respectable and friendly ones working in this place. Please management do something as we are paying but not getting value for our money. Prospective members should have a tour of this gym and visit other gyms to make a comparison and ask questions before joining the Brockwell Lido gym as this is the...
