But this morning I stumbled across Zeit w Zaatar by accident. I'm over the moon.
The manoushe is crisp, the Zaatar khodra excellent and akawi is just like home. They were made in an actual furnace so I had three in a row, how could I not? For someone who will happily eat manoushe for breakfast almost every day when in Beirut this is that rare thing - a Lebanese manoushe in London you can tell your friends about. It's got the charm of a street shop in Beirut, with its music, clientele and boisterous warm owner greeting you like it's your place when you walk in. If you know, you know, Zeit & Zaatar is the hidden gem of Shepherd’s Bush Road. I’ve been coming here for almost two years, 3 to 4 times a week, and it never misses. Enjoyed Za’atar mana’eesh, with fresh mint, cucumbers, olives and slices of tomatoes— bliss!! Also ordered foul mdamas, which came with freshly baked flat bread that my friend and I picked at until everything was done! Enjoyed all this with black tea with fresh mint.
Went to use the facilities, and honestly, this is the cleanest toilet in London! For me that’s a reflection on the place and its capacity towards hygiene (especially their kitchen). I am very impressed.
