I've been looking forward to trying Five guys for some time as lot of people have ranted and raved about their burgers. I love a good burger. Wow, what a disappointment.
Lets talk about the pricing first. It is way too high. I took my two young children, for 1 burger, 1 little cheese burger, 1 hotdog, 2 portions of fries, 1 diet coke, 1 bottle of water and a chocolate milkshake. £36, are you serious ?!
I took them to McDonalds a day later to do a comparison, both for cost and quality. We ordered more food, but it was only £18.
So is the Five Guys vastly increased price justified ? Are these burgers worth it ? Nope.
Lets talk about my burger, the quality of the patties were certainly a lot higher than McD's, and it was nice to get something cooked to order that was hot. But that's about as wow as it gets. The very little cooked toppings were greasy and tasteless, the salad.. not that good at all, the bun... ok. But if you're a burger aficionado you'll wonder what all the fuss is about.
Lets talk about my daughters all beef hotdog. £.4.50 for something that was about 5 inches long, the dog itself was nice, the bread was soggy. Worth £4.50 ? No.
My sons little cheeseburger. It looked ok, but was it worth just under £6 ?! No.
I also didn't like the place itself. It reminded me of a no thrills greasy spoon/motorway services and it smelt like one too.
As I said I love a good burger. And the Five Guys burger I had was ok. It was better than McD's. Of course. Is it better than Burger King ? Hmmm, I think I'd rather have a whopper.
I think Five Guys need to get over themselves and price accordingly to what they are churning out. Because it really isn't...
Read moreBest burgers in the area hands down, I travel from Sittingbourne to Maidstone for the burgers and fries from Five Guys as there isn't Five Guys in Sittingbourne. Juicy burgers and fresh ingredients used, fries taste superb and a good drinks selection is offered too. The atmosphere feels more special than other burger restaurants. Service is good, I don't mind waiting longer in comparison to other restaurants cooking similar food as I know I am getting quality with Five Guys and it will be worth the wait. The only downside in the cost of the items. Me and my partner had two burgers, shared a regular fries and had two drinks and it came to £32 which is usually double what we'd pay for similar food such as burgers etc then we have to use our own fuel to get to Five Guys and also have money spare for parking whilst we eat there as their is no free parking near the Maidstone Five Guys location. So it's nearly £40 to have our Five Guys 'fix' but great food at that. Just can't have it often due to not many locations and the...
Read moreI’ve never been so underwhelmed. The food itself is tasty enough, but beware the price for what you get! £36 for 3 small, foil wrapped hotdogs (that will be why there’s no kids menu as they surely can’t get any smaller?), a large cup of fries, 2 milkshakes and some water? Oh and then there’s the misleading pricing on the board which seems to exclude value added tax (in the UK??). A sign on the wall says “too good to only stay in America”. Had I have had a red permanent marker I would cheerfully have chalked up “too overpriced to stay in the UK” underneath. Come on Five Guys - commercial exorbitance of this kind can’t have been in the plan for quality fast food for the masses back in 1980s Virginia. Disappointing to say the least for a family of professed...
