We had a nice experience at kalaRED. Went in for an evening meal after a long day out walking and weren't disappointed. I recommend booking in advance of an evening though, we got lucky as there was a lull just before the rush but it does get busy. We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was incredibly attentive. The menu itself is very extensive, boasting set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for Set Menu B for 2 with a few extras on the side. The menu also boasts quite a lot of dim sum options, of which we had soup dumplings. They could've been a little more soupy for my liking but were pleasant. Our other starters were salt and pepper squid and salt and pepper ribs; both delicious. The beginning of out set menu also arrived at this time, a selection of hors d'oeuvres including, crispy wontons, satay chicken, butterfly king prawn, smoked chicken, seaweed and dry ribs. The wontons were the only disappointing item; little to no "stuffing". This appetiser platter was shortly followed by a quarter roast duck with the trimmings, pulled tableside. Delicious! After this our portions of egg fried rice, chicken, prawns and beef were delivered. All quite tasty though a little under seasoned aside from the beef in my opinion. We did have to wait for a good while for the bill unfortunately, though only a minor inconvenience. Overall a nice experience. My stars are only deducted for the food not being quite as mind blowing as I would've liked.

Eating food influenced by the Far East was an exciting prospect when I was growing up. Much like a lot of foreign food that has been on our menus for generations it’s now part of British culture. After generations it has been tailored to meet the needs of the populous. What you expect in British Chinese in food is what you’ll get at KalaRED. The venue is large and appears to turn into a pub/Club. I’m sure on a non school night you’ll get to smash a jƤgermeister with your mates while finishing off the last of the prawn crackers.

I decided to eat some birds nest noodles I knew it this place used to do it... disappointing they don’t do it anymore šŸ˜ž The service was ok. They had an amazing ceremony for the lunar Chinese New Year I really enjoy it... my food was ok... some of the dishes were a bit plane not flavour, could be better. I think they need to renovate some of the furniture in there.

Went for anĀ evening meal after a long time without being able to go to a restaurant. Pleased to report we weren't disappointed. We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was very attentive as it wasnt the busiest evening, even though it was a Saturday. The menu itself is very extensive, with set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for a la carte.Ā Our starters were Wonton soup(9/10), Butterfly King Prawns(9/10), salt & pepper squid(10/10) and salt & pepper ribs(7/10). This is due to a bit of "frozen" aftertaste on the ribs. After this our mains arrived, 2 portions of egg fried rice(one is enough for two people), beef in oyster sauce(7/10), again unfortunately a bit of "frozen" aftertaste on the beef but the sauce was deliciousĀ and the beef very tender. Also had the XO SquidĀ + Prawns which wereĀ amazing(10/10). All in all a very good meal and hope the management will look into my comments on the ribs and beef. My ratings are only deducted for the food not being quite as good as it could have been....

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered at 7.30pm. Over three hours later the food had still not arrived despite us having paid in full. (Over £50). We phoned the restaurant who said the food had been sat ready since 9pm but nobody had bothered to pick it up from Deliveroo. Eventually the lady on the phone hung up and they then did not answer the phone.phoned Deliverr and could not get through for half hour. They said they were very busy................

We politely declined the delivery when it eventually turned up after about three and a half hours of...
