This is a not to be missed Indian restaurant and has only been open for a couple of months under new ownership. The decor and food is absolutely outstanding. I was taken here by my partner for my birthday treat. I love curries and this did not disappoint in any way. We did not have any starters, so we went in for the kill straight away. We ordered the deli chicken curry, king prawn kerela, aubergine and a lamb biriani. Rayan (the owner) was very attentive and took our order. He asked how spicy we would like our 2 curries. We both opted for madras strength. The deli chicken was in a thick sauce with full on flavour and heat. My partner’s prawn kerala was outstanding. Perfectly cooked king prawns in a coconut milk and curry leaves. The sauce was slightly thinner than the deli chicken, but wow, the flavour was so well balanced. Highly recommend. The aubergines were cooked in a chilli sauce with a spicy kick and lamb biriani was the best one I have ever tasted. You never get a biriani of this calibre in your average run of the meal Indian restaurant. This was properly done with “melt in your mouth” lamb, perfectly cooked basmati rice and full on flavour. At the end of our meal we could not get a taxi back to our hotel and Rayan offered to take us back. I’m sure this is not part of the service the restaurant offers and was so kind and generous of Rayan to do that for us. Certainly above the call of duty. The only disappointment we have is that the restaurant is not on our doorstep. I’m sure 25 miles is too far for a delivery! Anyway, would just like to say a very big thank you to Rayan and his staff for such a rememberable experience and pass on our compliments to your outstanding chefs. Can’t wait to come...
Read moreMyself and a few friends chose this venue for a meal as the location is pretty central from our homes in Billericay, Chelmsford, Burnham and Tiptree. It was the first time any of us had tried this restaurant and boy, what a nice surprise it was. The rooms are decorated in an elegant colonial/Victorian style with velvet drapes god relief giving a warm, friendly and somewhat homely vibe, so different from you average tacky 'Indian' restaurant. The cuisine is specifically Punjabi as opposed to the normal 'Tandoori' styles and the food was different and totally delicious! It was a Thursday evening so not very busy and the tables are laid out over smaller rooms at the front of the building which makes for quite an intimate dining experience although there is a larger room at the rear which can cater for larger groups. Running the show is a very hospitable young chap named Ryan who is your host/waiter and proprietor who has come from a long family background of restauranteurs. Personally, I would rank this as one of the best Indian Restaurants in the area and thoroughly recommend it. Well done the...
Read morepreviously visited this excellent restaurant on Maldon High Street whilst working in Essex a few months ago when it was called The Chutney House - now it’s the The Indian Chefs so this was my first time back to sample what the new owners had to offer - and whilst the new menu was pretty much unrecognisable from previous, the food was thankfully just superb - top quality ingredients, full of flavour and all cooked to perfection. The new owner was happy to take the time to explain the dishes listed and to make recommendations - on this basis I went for the Lamb Shank and I wasn’t disappointed - beautifully spiced tender lamb on a bed of rice made this an exceptional dish. My colleague went for the intriguingly named Chicken Tikka Masala Pie and again, he said the dish was exceptional. Two wonderful side dishes of Saag Paneer and Mushroom Do Piyaza were the perfect accompaniments. Highly recommended and cannot...
