The Waffle Bar — Restaurant in Maldon

It was a shame when we visited as it started off so well. I'm vegan and they had options, which I was very excited about. It started to get busier in there and I dont think they handled this very well. We had got our sandwiches and the kids had milkshakes, the sandwiches for the kids were a meal deal so after they got waffles. After we had finished we had a bit of a wait, and then we ordered our desserts, husband had a crepe and I asked for the vegan waffle, we were told that even though we were there first out desserts would now be in a long cue, 10 minutes later i was told i couldnt have my vegan waffle, but could have a crepe, which I decline as I dont really like crepes, she apologised. My husbands crepe came out a long while later, and I asked about the kids meal deal then, she was like yeah they cant have theres waffles either, the machines not working, something that hadn't been explained before, I asked so when we ordered the meal deal that came with waffles, was it broke, she confirmed it was, I said why wasnt we told then as we came to the waffle bar for waffles, she looked confused, so I said not to worry. Then the card machine went down and most people were then told they would have to go get cash, you could feel the flustered atmosphere and it felt very uncomfortable, when it was out turn, the machine luckily did come on, so we were able to pay bu card, but everything took so long and with two small kids, it wasnt an enjoyable experience, it is a small place so when it get get busy my chair was knocked constantly by the waitress that was coming and going, we tried moving the table back, but still not enough room. We spent £56 which is not a cheap outing, for us to be disappointed and feel quite uncomfortable, I wouldn't go back, I can say though the food we did get was lo ely presented and...

I placed an order on the Uber Eats app around 14:50. I received a call from The Waffle Bar not long after to confirm the details of our order. At 15:55, I had a call from the Uber driver assigned to the delivery to say that the restaurant was now closed and that he couldn’t collect our food. We then called the restaurant who said our food had been sitting there waiting to be collected and was cold, but that it had now been collected (we never received our food). As Uber were blaming the restaurant, and the restaurant were blaming Uber, I feel it’s only fair to leave a complaint for both. I don’t understand why, if our order had been sitting there getting cold, we didn’t receive a call from the restaurant to inform us as to what was going on, or had our food delivered by them as we’re only a...

The owner of this place is obviously just trying to make money and not make it a pleasurable experience for the customers.

Tables are crammed in, she huffs and puffs around the place, a group of children wanted ice cream and they decided they wanted to sit inside instead of take away and she was huffing and puffing that they didn't want anything expensive, even though afterwords they brought more expensive milkshakes.

We asked for tap water this never arrived. Our ice cream had ice crystals in it like it had been sitting in the freezer for ages. I watched her make a "rossi" milkshake with cheaper ice cream as the base.

The whole experience was awful. I know times are hard but service and quality of food is important. Its not even a cheap place with average milkshake...
