Kim’s Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Manchester

Placed an order for collection and was advised it would be ready in 20 minutes. We didn't realise until we were on our way to collect that they didn't take a name.

When we arrived, we were waiting nearly 10 minutes for the person at the window, as they spent the whole time chatting to the previous customers rather than dealing with the next person.

When we did finally get served, we found the order was wrong (extra meal, and no sausage roll). When we mentioned we ordered the sausage roll we were told "well, we haven't got any". When we mentioned that there was an extra meal we hadn't ordered we were told "well did this and he's not here now".

Once the bill was corrected, we paid, and confirmed the payment went through before we left.

We got 100 meters down the road before we were chased down by a van and advised that the payment had not gone through, and was asked to pay there. We walked back to the venue, and paid again, and waited until the machine told us it was approved and to remove the card. By this point we had been there for 20 minutes, meaning the food was...

I really wanted to like this place - we had such high hopes coming in, we loved the vibe. Ordered an omelette and a full English - after 45 minutes, we went inside to check where our food was, and we were given a free tea and coffee to say sorry. Then after waiting an hour and a half, we went inside to ask for a refund. We were told our order was the next one, and were given a 50% refund. So we decided to stick it out. After another 15-20 minutes and multiple dishes coming out that weren’t ours (so we obviously weren’t next - why lie?) we went back inside and asked for a full refund and left. At no point did anyone ever come over to us to say sorry or to explain what was going on, it was always us having to go inside and ask. I’ve never ever had to do this at a cafe/restaurant before. I couldn’t believe how shambolic it was, I shouldn’t have to wait nearly two hours for an omelette. It completely threw our whole day out of whack. First ever visit today with my wife after she'd donated blood at the centre in Longsight. We both had wraps; chicken with chips & salad for me and falafel & hummus also with salad for her, all very tasty. We dined off the menu this time but the specials board looked very interesting so we'll be trying that on our next visit. I had a pint of the stout which was top notch; my wife had a bottled 0% Heineken. There's plenty of bottled and other drinks available too. Highly recommended. Plenty of nearby roadside free parking with 2 hours nearest and 3 hours a little further away. Also if you venture upstairs there's an interesting exhibition all about the Hulme area and...
