Canvas Manchester — Hotel in Manchester

Update: Following the 2 star initial review, the Canvas community manager reached out to me directly as he seemed genuinely concerned of what I was describing. I had the opportunity to give him a more detailed feedback to which he responded in a very carrying manner. We discussed a few topics which he found important that I raised and promised to improve them immediately. And for this I will upgrade our experience to 4 stars.

Initial review: It was very disappointing to find my daughter’s room not cleaned after the previous occupant. The window looked greasy. The bathroom was ok. The communal kitchen that serves 6 rooms was disgusting. The kettle had grease on it, one curtain was half hanging off the rail, the oven door was broken and the fridge shelves and drawers of various sizes that belonged to other fridge types were all over the kitchen counters. It was smelly and dirty overall. How disappointing to enter that after a long journey! For such a high cost to arrive to that! It’s like going to a hotel and they give you a room that’s just been emptied and not cleaned. After hours travelling we had to run and buy cleaning products and started scrubbing to be able to unpack a year worth of luggage. What’s worse, the high cost doesn’t cover the laundry and you have to pay extra for it! It’s over £6 to use a washing machine and one dryer. It adds up! There’s a cinema room that’s always locked and you can’t just access whenever you fancy and its use is not even included in the handbook. The ground floor looks very nice with lots of spaces to hang out though. Staff’s been very nice so far and the atmosphere in the lobby...

I had the pleasure of living at Canvas for the entire two years of my course, and it has been an incredible experience from start to finish. The staff here are exceptionally helpful, conscientious, and kind, always going above and beyond to ensure that I have everything I needed. Their dedication truly made a difference in my stay, making me feel welcome and supported.

The accommodation itself is beautiful, it is modern and well-maintained spaces and facilities. The communal areas are always neat and tidy, thanks to the cleaning staff, creating a pleasant and comfortable environment to live and study in. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of natural light and all the amenities a student could need.

The best aspects of Canvas is its location. The walkable distance to the university made it incredibly convenient to attend classes and participate in campus activities. Additionally, the proximity to the city center was fantastic, allowing easy access to shops, restaurants, and entertainment options without really needing to rely on public transport.

I would highly recommend Canvas to any student looking for a place that combines comfort, convenience, and a supportive community. My time here has been one of the highlights of my university experience, and I am grateful for the wonderful memories I’ve made. I’ll miss...

I don’t often write reviews, but when I do: it’s warranted. Canvas is truly a home away from home, I cannot express it enough but you will definitely make the right decision if you choose to live here.

The facilities are on another level, the events, in particular, are almost never-ending & are organised diligently, the rooms and amenities are perfectly catered to a fast-paced university lifestyle. But what makes a home? It’s not just the facilities, it’s the people- the staff.

I’ve always felt welcome since the day I arrived, the staff are extremely considerate and helpful, no matter where you’re from- albeit not having to add that. They will take the time to listen to you and aim to resolve your concerns.

I’ve loved every minute of staying here and plan to do so in the future. Special shoutout to James, he’s been amazing since day one & truly works incredibly hard for us, his work ethic is top notch. As well as Gary & the missus, imparting wisdom and always making me feel at home here in Canvas.
