We are newlyweds and received a Miller & Carter gift card as a wedding present. It became clear after dining that we had accidentally brought with us the mount for the gift card, instead of the gift card itself. We spoke to management in the hope that we could find a solution to allow us to redeem the wedding gift against the meal (the only reason we had attended to dine in the first place was to celebrate our wedding and spend the gift card). Management told us it is difficult to reopen a bill once it has been closed, but they would speak to head office the next morning. We called back the next morning and were told there is nothing that can be done. The mistake, although our own, was highlighted immediately at the end of the meal, and the fact that nothing can be done to reimburse us in return for the giftcard value feels absolutely despicable. We've been left feeling robbed and with a horribly sour feeling from this visit and would absolutely not recommend Miller & Carter to anyone - in fact I would advise that they avoid and spend their money elsewhere. A little bit of a personal touch, and empathy for genuine customers who have made a genuine mistake would not go a miss.
Update 1: (as I am not able to respond to Miller & carter’s response below) At the end of the meal we we’re promised a phone call the next day from the assistant manager to discuss a potential solution, when we hadn’t received the call my husband called the restaurant himself and was again advised there was nothing that could be done. When I then received an email prompt to review our experience I felt it right to share our honest experience. As it appears from the response that Miller & Carter is still exploring what can be done, we would be very grateful to hear from the restaurant or head office with a suggested resolution.
Update 2: The manager at Miller & Carter Manchester has been very helpful (although it did take him some time to make contact after promising to call us to discuss). He agreed to refund the value of the gift card given we were genuine customers and had made a very honest mistake. Whilst we’re very pleased with the resolution and would like to thank Andy for his help, we were told on several occasions that nothing could be done, and do feel that the resolution is only as a result of our perseverance. As we’ve said previously, the quality of the food was good, it was just a shame the way our issue was dealt with on...

I recently visited Miller & Carter and while the food itself was enjoyable, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
To start with, the prices were surprisingly high—I don’t remember it being that expensive before. It definitely felt like poor value for money this time around.
We were seated at a small table tucked away in the corner, right next to the disabled toilet..ok, yes we did ask for the table but shortly after the realisation of the table having zero to no lighting we felt iscolated from the whole restaurant. It honestly felt like the table wasn’t meant to be there at all. We asked if we could be moved to a 4-seater for more space, but were told no because we were only two people. Strangely enough, we later saw other couples being seated at larger tables.
Service was also disappointing. After finishing our meal, we waited for the bill but had to go up and ask for it ourselves as our waitress was busy leaning and chatting at the bar. When we finally received the card machine to pay, it powered off before I could even select a tip amount. We explained that we were in a rush to catch a train, and the waitress entered a £6 tip herself, processed the payment, and waved us off. Unfortunately, the delay caused by the faulty card machine plus the wait time in total meant that we ended up missing our train home. Not happy!
All in all, a very underwhelming experience. I expected better from a place like...
Read moreFirstly, if you don’t have a reservation, you better not walk in. They prioritize reservations way too much over walk in so u can see many empty tables. The manager is super occupied with doing what his waitresses and waiters can do. If you walk in, the waiting time is like 20 mins, and the manager can only smile and tell you, that he will find a way. After getting a table, the atmosphere is super noisy, drunk drinkers yelling and waiters interacting with diners when they should be focusing on their work. Now comes the food, if you are looking for pork ribs, go to turtlebay or rump. The ribs here are overpriced at 25 pounds for a full slab, the salad is insanely bitter, and the fries is alright. The ribs came warm but cool fast, and the meat got harder and tougher. You can tell a well prepared rib when u cut it, the meat doesn’t stick to the bones. This rib wasn’t as well expected. Now, comes payment - waiters and waitresses are so busy shuffling the kitchen, and I approached one of them for payment - he rudely shoved me away and asked me to find another guy for payment. Well, it seemed to be his break time cos he stormed out the front door. Wasn’t a good experience for me at all, and I guess this is why chat gpt didn’t recommend this place, so ya regretful for...
