
We got married at The Midland Hotel on the 16/05/2024 and it was absolutely SENSATIONAL. We immediately fell in love with the hotel when we arrived for our viewing back in 2021 and we instantly knew it was the venue for us. We booked it on that same day and since then the wedding & events team have been nothing but absolutely exceptional. We waited two years for our big day and we truly cannot fault their professionalism, kindness and communication with us from the very start, throughout the two years we waited and especially on our wedding day.
We want to give a special shout out and thanks to Julia & Carolina for going above and beyond, they are a true credit to how amazing our day went, nothing was too much to ask or to do, they bent over backwards for us to ensure our day went perfectly, they continuously checked in on us to make sure we were both okay and not too overwhelmed which we really appreciated and they made sure every single one of our guests were looked after. They were both so friendly, kind hearted and reassuring throughout the whole day, they were both absolutely flawless and we can't thank them both enough for being such a special part of our day and our experience, they are an absolute asset to The Midland and we wish them all the success in the world.
We also want to say a massive thank you to Megan & Natasha from the Wedding & Events team, both were always so reassuring and helpful to all of our questions, they always made sure we felt at ease and relaxed because wedding planning is STRESSFUL and sometimes you worry that you're pestering them with so many questions but both of them made us feel like we had a friend to turn to and very quickly actioned any queries we had, always so friendly and welcoming towards us.
The team of people that were a part of our wedding day were absolutely exceptional, the waiting staff, the bartenders, every single person that played a part were 10/10 and also completely exceeded our expectations, each team member was incredibly friendly to our wedding guests and nothing was too much to ask, they all had such an open friendliness towards us all which meant so much on such a special day, it felt like they really wanted to be there and be a part of our day. THANK YOU!
The rooms were also absolutely stunning, they were all clean from top to bottom, smelt great with a really lovely smelling scent, the rooms feel and look luxury and our wedding guests who stayed in them, were all over the moon and delighted - the reception/concierge team were brilliant checking them all in and answering any questions they had, quickly sorting out a cot for my sister in law and helping everyone with their bags. They were all given the VIP treatment from the team.
It truly was an absolute pleasure to have our wedding at The Midland so if you are thinking about having your wedding here, DO IT! You will not be disappointed, it was the best decision we ever made.

The pool area is nice, the treatments were worth the money (although I feel as though it should have been included for the price we paid overall) the staff there were really nice, the relaxation area is lovely but THAT’S IT. We’re beyond disappointed and you couldn’t even pay us to come back.
Me and my boyfriend wanted to get away over Xmas 26th-28th and we were NOT informed in any way, shape or form that there was a reduced menu, not online nor via text, email or call. We paid for bed & breakfast and a 3 course meal over 2 nights, so the fact that they didn’t say anything is ridiculous. The restaurant was closed on our first night so we had to eat in the ‘lounge area’, they offered a reduced menu and when I say reduced I mean… REDUCED to basically nothing. If you’ve booked your dinner in advance like we did and you want to eat off of the ‘lounge’ menu rather than the reduced menu, you have to pay a supplement because it’s not from the reduced menu. We managed to avoid this on the first night after an hour of going back and forth with the staff who took a million years to do anything. On the second night we almost didn’t get seated because we were informed that we didn’t need to pre-book a table with our package. However, the host told us this was wrong and had to find us a table. We queried the food again as like I’ve said, we paid for a 3 course meal at the restaurant and we weren’t receiving that, it was still the ridiculous reduced menu which consisted of fish cakes, bangers and mash and some feta pie.. this time they weren’t budging on the menus, we wanted to order from the ‘lounge’ menu. They still said we had to pay a supplement or a £28 allowance which meant we couldn’t get a starter or a dessert without paying extra even though we’ve paid for

We ordered the steak at £26 because everything else either wasn’t available or just wasn’t to our liking. It was over cooked, the chips were STUPIDLY salty and they forgot our peppercorn sauce, we waited nearly 10 mins for the sauce and then it was stone cold. I fancied a dessert and my boyfriend had to get up and ask the waiter for a menu since they hadn’t been back to us for at least 15 minutes after we finished our mains. It wasn’t even busy in the restaurant. The waiter didn’t let him finish his sentence and just said “it’s coming, it’s coming”. I think he was confused because after another 5 minutes, no dessert menu came. By this point we had enough and just left.
It’s a pretentious hotel that pretends to be fancy and great quality when it’s not, at all. They should all be ashamed. We didn’t get what we paid for, it’s as simple as that. Read moreWonderful, fabulous 2 night stay at this beautiful iconic hotel which thoroughly lived up to expectations! Having had a career background within the travel industry ( & still a little bit, part time), I’ve NEVER, voluntarily, bothered to write reviews.. after having had to mandatory do this for work purposes on a regular basis. Now being predominantly in the hospitality business, our visit was to attend the Northern Bar & Restaurant Exhibition. The location couldn’t be better… for me and my disabled partner, being just steps away from the convention centre….& added bonus disabled parking bays, right across the road from the hotel. We regularly have short stays in Manchester, at least, once or twice a year & have stayed in several hotels in the City. We now, would be reluctant to stay anywhere else! Midland all the way, when we can afford it… turned out this particular visit was way beyond value for the extra cost, above what we would normally pay. Not everything was, immediately, (room wise) perfect but rectified satisfactory & so professionally. All the staff are absolutely amazing & go above & beyond. A few times I left my partner to get luggage or whatever & many staff always checked he was ok. He was very reassured & thankful for this…. So many thanks… Being in the travel industry & also hospitality ourselves we understand things aren’t always perfect and things can go wrong , we’re not usually complainers & we didn’t, really, just pointed out a few things. More than happy with how the few minor issues were dealt with! Sorry, long review but just so absolutely overwhelmed with everything! A previous reviewer mentioned the amazing smell… the words were almost exactly the same as mine ‘You can smell the divine opulence’ 🥰 nothing to compare.. my scarf still had the slight fragrance when we got home. If I’m not fortunate enough to stay with you again, I will call in just to experience the opulence & the delicious aroma. Finally, I need to give special thanks for Laura, on the reception desk, nothing too much trouble & despite so many guests, always remembered us and had kind words, lovely, professional, helpful girl. If I could afford to I would happily employ her. Absolute asset to your wonderful hotel. Please can someone get back to me that my comments have been passed on to the lovey Laura. 😊… very happy guests....
