I recently visited this kunafa shop in Manchester with my wife, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. After placing our order, the owner rudely asked us to leave the shop and come back in 10 minutes, despite the fact that it was raining heavily outside. It was evident he could see the weather conditions, yet he showed no concern or basic courtesy.
When I pointed out the rain and expressed my discomfort, he sarcastically offered that we could wait in the back of the shop, but his tone was dismissive and arrogant. When I tried to explain that such behavior was at odds with the usual welcoming attitude I’ve encountered across the UK, his response was shockingly unapologetic. He claimed it was because I “couldn’t accept” their behavior.
As someone who has been in the UK for quite some time, I’ve always appreciated the respectful and kind customer service here, but this interaction stood out as an unfortunate exception. This shop’s management should seriously reconsider how they treat their customers if they wish to foster a welcoming environment.
I would not recommend this place, not because of the food, but because no one should have to endure such unnecessary hostility and disrespect.
As i’m not allowed to respond to your reply on this review, i’m adding it here.
I find it deeply troubling that instead of addressing the legitimate concerns I raised about your behavior, you have chosen to deflect criticism by accusing me of racism. This accusation is baseless and deeply offensive.
As a Muslim myself, I have always supported the Palestinian cause and hold great respect for its people. My issue was solely with the disrespectful and arrogant manner in which you treated me and my family. Using such a serious issue to avoid accountability for poor customer service undermines the genuine struggles of those you claim to represent.
Your dismissive tone and refusal to acknowledge your role in creating a negative experience are indicative of an unwillingness to accept feedback. Critiquing your attitude is not an attack on your background—it is a call for basic respect and professionalism, which were sorely lacking during our...

I’m writing this review to warn others about my experience with Mr. Kanafah and why I believe this business is not trustworthy. 🆘 On September 2, 2022, I purchased a packed Lover Suite from their shop on 161 Dickenson Road, Manchester. While eating the dessert at home, I bit into a stone that was inside the pistachio, which broke two of my teeth. The pain and damage were serious, and I needed dental treatment. 🆘 I met with Mr. Kanafah the very next day, and he personally promised to cover the dental costs if I removed my original review. I trusted him and took the review down — but after that, he stopped answering my calls, ignored all communication, and never did anything to resolve the issue. 🆘 It’s now been over three years, and nothing has been done. I still have the photos of the stone, the damaged dessert, my receipt, and the dental reports. 🆘 This is not just about money — it’s about trust and accountability. I am deeply disappointed in how this situation was handled. Be careful who you trust with your health and safety John B
Dear Mr. Knafah,
I acknowledge receipt of your letter.
Your allegations are inaccurate and defamatory. From the outset—whether by phone, in person, or in writing—I clearly stated that the baklava was brought by a friend, and we were 2-3 people present when it was consumed, as usual.
The object found is retained and documented. You personally confirmed a change in your pistachio supplier at the time.
Defamation Warning: Your accusations of fraud and blackmail are unfounded. I urge you to retract these statements immediately and reflect on how you are dealing with your customers.
All evidence has been submitted to the solicitor. I have not requested compensation. Further defamatory claims will not be...
Read moreVery bad customer services, I bought £10 plate of kunafa and you have to wait outside for your order, which isn't a problem now as the weather isn't bad. When the order was ready the guy at the door calls your order number and I asked very politely if the shop could cut a piece for my little daughter. His answer was they cannot and gave me plastic forks and a smaller plate to cut the kunafa into. I asked the for shop manger and someone stepped in to say yeah I will cut it for you, but said with a very smirky smile " I will do it for you for free this time but next time we will charge you one pound". I dislike his attitude as he gave me the feeling that he is giving me a favour which I didn't ask for. If it was shop policy to charge one pound for cutting their kunafa then I am more than happy to pay it. It was just as simple as it is but they made a big fuss out of it. So, I asked for the return of the kunafa which he unpolitely said you are not going to have a refund and again with his smirking attitude. I asked for the manager so he said he is, but when I said no you are not then another guy who was at the cashier came up and said he is the manager and just as worse as the first guy. Very patronising tone of talking and down talking to me. His only offer was come tomorrow and speak to the manager. So that kunafa has gone straight into their bin in front of them. Well they even had the courage to try and say while they were laughing oh not that bin but the bin outside. Basically they didn't bother about the customer and...
