We'd seen the food from Cardinal Rule Manchester on a food blog, so headed to Northern Monk before going to watch Avril Lavigne at Castlefield Bowl. The decor of Northern Monk is industrial, airy and really pleasing. The staff behind the bar were really friendly and attentive. There were 2 of us and we had food and drinks. We ordered Miss Honey on brioche and The Hot Take on a biscuit, both with cajun fries and extra pickles. There was some confusion as 2 Miss Honey's were delivered, but the order for The Hot Take was quickly done and delivered to our table. The chef and the bar staff were both very apologetic about the mistake, but it happens! The food was hot, so had clearly been made fresh. It was really tasty. We hadn't tried biscuits before, so didn't know what to expect - they were almost doughy and a little sweet. They complemented the chicken perfectly. You have to pay extra for chipotle mayo with the fries (they come with ketchup) and I always find paying for extra sauce a bit ridiculous when everyone wants sauce! That's my only downside. But it didn't affect my experience at Northern Monk and I would definitely visit again and order food with...

I went down for the Finca kitchen takeover and it was incredible.

The Finca Cubano - Grilled Cuban sandwiches. Mojo pork shoulder , glazed gammon, pickle, Gouda cheese and mustard. This absolute showstopper of a grilled cheese was incredible, the pork should and glazed gammon were fantastic tasted 10/10 with the added Chorizo! The perfect mix of pickle and mustard amongst the stringy, melted Gouda cheese put this sandwich on pedestal

Sweet potato fries - Finca seasoning with chilli, coriander and sour cream. Amazing fried and seasoning that were great for sharing

Fried chicken sandwich - Cuban fried chicken, N' Duja Mojo, pickles, lettuce and mojo mayo on a toasted brioche bun. I unfortunately did not try this but gotta admit it looked damn delicious

Doughnuts & Ice cream - Bunuelo Doughnuts with signature Mantecado ice cream, salted caramel sauce and honey spiced peanuts. There might be a video of these coming so stay tuned, needles to say they were awesome

Remember you only have a month to try this unless you're in Liverpool at their...

TLDR: Best food and Drink in Manchester. You'll regret not going here!

Some of the best food we've ever had, portion sizes appear small but are surprisingly filling. I honestly had to post my first ever review for the quality of food we enjoyed, no review is of a high enough calibre to do justice for the food. We had the Hometown chicken biscuit sandwich(chicken burger), cheesy gravy loaded fries, potato salad and a biscoff cookie. All of which was out of this world delicious. The selection of beers on tap ensure there will be something to enjoy for even the pickiest drinker. Staff were phenomenal and attentive, and really appreciative of feedback. This is now our favourite place in manchester, dare I say the whole UK.

For anyone who read this far into this review, I want to note we have eaten all over the country, from takeaways to £70 steaks and everything in between. This is the only place that has had enough impact for me to review, if you eat and drink here, you won't be...

Newly opened Northern Monk bar in Manchester's Northern Quarter. As one of the Norths great craft breweries, great to see lots of fresh, Northern Monk craft offerings available as well as beers from other breweries. Visited after IMBC on a Friday evening so in addition to being peak time, loads more beer festival goers headed the same way-have to say one of the longest waits at the bar for a long time, though got worse after we got served! I hope this will be an exception, if not, more staff needed at busy times! The NM branded glasses are amazing also. Hopefully more craft brewers will open bars like this in Manchester to add to the already amazing beer scene here in Manchester!
