Fantastic hotel situated in the heart of Manchester City centre. Close to Piccadilly Station, and the Northern Quarter, excellent transport links good hotel to stay and close to the shopping area restaurants and night life. 🛍️🌯🍸

An excellent location, minutes away from Piccadilly train station and Canal Street with all its bars, clubs and restaurants. Spotless, comfortable rooms with blackout curtains and air conditioning. A quiet room, I had an excellent sleep (needed after a busy night). There’s a gym and excellent, well stocked bar with a decent breakfast selection. The lower score for service is due to a number of things. Only one person booking in a queue of people when a second person was doing something at the computer alongside the first. I’m sure what they were doing was important and needed to be done but there was no eye contact, “I will be with you in a minute” or anything. Eventually they did open up and the queue quickly vanished. The tea and coffee offering in the room were a bit mean, just like it hadn’t been restocked after the last visitors. At breakfast they meet and greet you but there was no explanation of where things are or what’s on offer. I didn’t bring any of my moans to anybody’s attention, I was too busy enjoying the free WiFi and the excellent facilities. I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it and will keep an open mind about the service on my next visit and say something next time should it not improve. Book here to explore this wonderful city.

I stayed here on business for 4 nights in March 2025. For a business traveller this offers a pretty faultless experience and I would definitely stay here again. Staff are extremely friendly at every point of contact and more than happy to help. A standard room was pretty good and definitely good enough if most of your trip is spent working. It was extremely clean and the daily housekeeping kept it that way during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the in room facilities offered everything you need (apart from a terrible hairdryer!). The breakfast service was extremely busy around 07.30-8. It’s easy enough to get a table but it is really busy so you might prefer to avoid that time. Even when busy though the food was replenished and it was easy enough to get the food you wanted. Food was good quality for the most part and it is good value if you can get it included in the room rate. I have previously stayed at the MotelOne around the corner from this Holiday Inn and by comparison this is a much more comfortable experience and makes a business trip nicer. Whilst this is not a luxury property it does offer a full service and it’s worth the small difference in price.

Room:

Booked double was given twin, no other rooms available. Wish I was informed before arriving I could have book elsewhere. A lot of money for a single bed.

Gym:

Website describes the gym as Extensive; it is not, it is a basic gym, with a number of different types of machines. I booked the hotel on the basis of the Gym (to allow physio training etc), the gym is just one up from a home gym.

I enquired at reception if there was another gym on site as it is not 'Extensive' as described on website. I received a defensive response, "what equipment is it that I need?" I did not get into the discussion and went back to my room.

Spoke to reception in the morning when I asked how was my stay, he was much more honest and said that it is a basic gym and no way could be described as Extensive, he would report the issue to management and the web site will hopefully be updated asap.

Over a week later, website still states Fitness Centre Type: EXTENSIVE

Receipts @ bar not available, you have to provide an email address to have the receipt sent to you. I asked to have them emailed to my room booking email, they were unable to do so. The staff seemed frustrated as the guests were at this set up.

Informed by reception that the systems at the bar and hotel reception are not linked and have been like this for 2 weeks.

Suggestion: fix it or get an old fashion printer. You buy something, you expect a receipt - simple. How else can you check what you have paid for? You can not be expected to pick up a discrepancy later and waste more time sorting it out.

Breakfast:

Was not included on my room for some reason (in all honesty could have been my error when booking) I had to pay full price following morning. With the issues I had, incorrect room, poor gym you think they would have given you the breakfast at the pre booked rate at least. Again receipt needs to be emailed.

Hotel was nice and clean.

Would I recommend: The hotel overall is nice however it could be great hence at the moment - If nothing else is...

I arrived to the hotel around 14.30, travelled to Nottingham from London earlier that day, then arrived in Manchester. I went to the bar and ordered food and a lemonade. My food eventually turned up, as I went to eat, I thought I should cut the Club sandwich - looking around on the table, i could not see anything. No staff about, I went up to get cutlery, napkins and condiments.

As for the drink, I did not have one, checking the receipt, i had not paid - just not sure how that was missed. Not an ideal start, but could have put up with it. I then left for a meeting.

Later in the day around 17.00 I sat back down in the restaurant, i got my laptop out and started to work. While waiting for someone to approach, I noticed other people around me getting served, every time someone did come near, by the time I got my head up they were off. Eventually grabbed a waiter as he went pass. I asked the question, "is there Table service in this restaurant, which he replied yes. I then asked, why i had not be approached....

He apologised and brought across a menu. I chose a coke and Chicken - expecting him to ask what chicken, he didn't. He brought of the coke and offered to take the menu away. so i had waited around 90 mins before i grabbed him, i then waited another 45/60 mins for food then asked,, where it was. He said what food and he would look into it, i replied chicken, he then returned and asked what chicken. I then said don't bother and walked out. Walking pass reception, a lady asked if everything was ok. I replied no, and explained my experience. She said she would look into it and offer bonus points. I said thanks and headed out to get food...

next day, on check out, no one asked how my stay was, or i would have gone through it all again! Checked out and no additional points. 1st time in that hotel, not my first time in...

Ok so we were very fortunate to have been allocated a carers room to accommodate us and our daughter with disabled access. Rooms 333 & 335

Sadly the accessible room had seen much better days is this how they believe people with disabilities and their carers live?

The soft furnishings had a plethora of questionable stains especially the curtains, the bed base too, being dark brown in colour your brain immediately goes to one conclusion!

The headboard in 335 had several brown stains and just felt off. We washed them both down just incase!

The tv in 335 had several white crusty stains all over the screen.

The doors had liquid stains all over. There are holes in the walls, stains all over the walls and just tacky all round.

Didn’t feel clean and my eyes just returned to the stains!

I’ve given a 5 for value as we were allocated the 2 rooms, we are very grateful but the lack of cleanliness, staining and poor condition made us uncomfortable and concerned. Sadly this must be deemed acceptable or they would be replaced.

There were a large group of children on a field trip and their chaperones didn’t have an issue with them playing football in the corridors at 11pm!

When checking out we were asked the usual question “enjoy your stay” we verbally highlighted our concerns, staff not even remotely interested, did say tell the Manager I’ll be over in the cafe having a coffee if they’d like to discuss……. They clearly didn’t!

Ok so it’s a Holiday Inn and not the Ritz but no one wants to sleep in a bed with brown stains, curtains with a multitude of various coloured stains regardless of the origin!

The staff in the Bar and restaurant are either great or awful.

A special shout out to Mason, Vicky, Kieran & Lin who were extremely helpful and kind, others just couldn’t...
