I have not been here for a while but the curries are not up to scratch compared to the rest of the Wilmslow road quality. I only tried this place as it was not so busy. The day i choose to go was Pakistan independence day and my preferred local restaurant called My Lahore was rammed to the roof with customers with a waiting time of 40 minutes for a table. I was too hungry and didn't want to wait, therefore I took the plunge and went to try Shere Khan. I do remember coming here during my student days and was not impressed by them that time. I thought I might as well give it another go after 15 years and again I wasn't impressed this time either. The reason why i didn't like the curries was because it tasted too sweet, the 2 curries we had were westernised and didn't have a spicy flavour to it. The curries seemed a little watered down and didn't have that kick of spice. What i mean by spicy is not the chilli heat flavour but the literal spice taste you get when the spices permeate the meat and vegetables. The restaurant had about 5 tables out of 30 tables occupied but the food came out quite slow? I didnt get that either as they had 3 chefs? The menu needs updating and is a bit old skool. Maybe they can learn from restaurants such as My Lahore which is fast cheap and tasty. I probably wont come back for another 15 years by the standard of this establishment. Shame though as this was one of the famous restaurants on Wilmslow road...

Poppadoms were chewy, not crunchy. When we told the head waiter this he said "yes yes, it'll be here soon!" and walked off!

We ordered 2 Mixed Meat Grills and 1 Fish Grill from the 'Sizzlers' menu. After 20mins we were told that the meat grills were ready, but they hadn't marinated the fish and it would take half an hour to prepare. We were told (not asked) that they would give us 3 meat grills. We reluctantly agreed. Then 5 mins later the 3 dishes we ordered arrived (including the fish!). This was great, but none of these 'Sizzler' dishes were sizzling. The iron skillets they were served on were only warm. No sizzle or smoke as expected. Which meant cooked onions on top and raw underneath. We then waited another 5mins for plates, sauces and breads! We had ordered a naan and 2 chapati. The nan arrived and then the waiter said "2 roti?". We said "No, we ordered 2 chapati". He looked at the breads for a few seconds and said "its the same thing, these are chapatis!". We contested this (as they clearly weren't chapatis) but they were having none of it and so we accepted them under sufferance.

The food we ate was good, but was either lacking the promised sizzle, or wasn't what we ordered!

We arrived as they opened and there was only us and 2 other tables occupied. So they can't blame being busy (which it was an hour later).

Very...

⛔AVOIDE 🚫 ⚠️⚠️❌❌🦗🦗🦗 COCKROACHES Absolute disgusting. My partner brought me here for a romantic meal. Half way threw our food I needed the ladies. When I got there to my surprise there we cockroaches all over the toilets. I was instantly sick. I also felt so disappointed as it was supposed to be a romantic meal for 2. And breaking the news to my partner was that brilliant neither. Our night was ruined. Not to.mention travelling from Bradford to here here.!!!

The curries dont come with rice or chappaties ... you have to order separately. ( not good ! )

Rice came with different coloured pieces in it. Yes looks great and unique although I personally was put off and it's not what I asked for. I asked for boiled white rice. Not rainbow boiled rice.

Wasnt offered any water when seated. Had to ask for it.

Wasnt offered any condiments ie salt pepper had to ask for that too.

Portions are shocking for the price.

And last but not least .. staff ??! Stand and WATCH YOU and I mean really staring at you I had to swap seats with my partner as I felt uncomfortable been...

Visited 19/03/2022, good size enclosed waiting area (heated) as you go through first set of doors, seen to very quickly and for a Friday night and restaurant being busy only took 5minutes to be taken through next set of doors into the main dining area and seated for a table of 4. The service was attentive and food came at a decent pace considering how busy the establishment was. I would say that the mix grill sizzler was pricey in comparison to other places and don’t get as much as you would portion was , perhaps for the same price and for value offering a version for 2 people similar to what you would find as meat platters elsewhere. The friends stated that their lamb and vegetarian saag paneer dish was good and that the naan and rice were tasty. The menu is limited but the food is tasty so worth a visit if your in the Rusholme area and fancy a venue for the nostalgia of one of the ongoing originals of the infamous curry mile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Second visit, second time we have been overcharged. The food is good and comparable to the other south Asian restaurants on wilmslow Rd. The main negative is the dodgy billing. Hand written, illegible bills without any itemisation and around a 15% overcharge. First time we were charged £10 extra, this time £8 extra. If you look on tripadvisor there are many similar experiences. When asking for the itemised bill, it took 4 attempts before an actual itemised bill was finally given. This makes me the staff were complicit in the scam. The food is good but the attitudes of staff when bringing up the discrepancy, they made, was poor. It was unusually empty for a Saturday night and I suspect this is why. Shere Khan's USP is their alcohol bar otherwise it is similar to the rest. The shoddy bill however makes it a complete no go in the future.

Went there last night with my friend. After being seated and given poppadom as a starter and taking our drinks order, we had to wait ages until they took our order for the mains. There were workers standing around, but apparently, they couldn't take orders, which I thought was weird. The turnaround from ordering to getting our food was pretty quick to be fair. We ordered 2 plain naan, 1 pilau rice, Lamb Bhuna, and a Chicken Saag. The lamb was too hard, and I ordered it medium, but there was no kick to whatsoever, so it just tasted bland. The chicken saag was nice, though. We did have to sit through a 20-minute fire alarm. That was very annoying. Also I didn’t realise they sell Alcohol so a heads up for my Muslims.
