Restaurant Review: My Peshawar – Manchester 📍 Visited on 11/06/2025 at 9:00 PM – Table No. 26
If you're on the hunt for authentic Peshawari cuisine in Manchester, My Peshawar offers a near-perfect culinary escape. Our visit turned into a memorable dining experience filled with flavour, warmth, and cultural charm. Here’s the full breakdown:
🚗 Parking & First Impressions There is private parking at the back, which was surprisingly spacious and convenient—just £6 for 4–5 hours. A huge plus if you're arriving by car.
We hadn't reserved a table in advance. Despite the restaurant being jam-packed, we were seated within 10–15 minutes of arrival—a smooth and efficient process. We were placed at Table No. 26.
🛋️ Ambience – 5/5 ⭐ The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and authenticity. The interior gave a nostalgic feel—just like dining in Peshawar. The traditional decor, vibrant crowd, and aroma of spices made the experience immersive and welcoming. Definitely worthy of a full 5 stars.
🍽️ Starters – 5/5 ⭐ We began with:
Papadum & Pickle Tray, featuring: (absolutely outstanding)
Mint chutney
Podina chutney
Green chili chutney
Onions
Mango chutney
Followed by:
Chicken Tikka
Chicken Malai Boti
Chapli Kabab
Chicken Jalapeño Samosa
Every single starter was fresh, hot, and bursting with flavour. The Chapli Kabab and Malai Boti stood out the most, while the jalapeño samosas were a delightful fusion twist. Truly a 5-star start to the meal.
🍛 Main Course – 5/5 ⭐ We ordered the Charsi Chicken Tikka Karahi, which was cooked fresh and served sizzling hot. The flavour profile was deep, rich, and smoky—just like a traditional karahi in Peshawar. The chicken was tender, well-spiced, and the portion was generous.
The dish took us right back to the authentic streets of Peshawar, despite being in the heart of Manchester.
🧼 Downside – Washrooms The only downside was the poor condition of the washrooms—they were unclean and not up to standard, which slightly affected the overall impression. This is one area the management must address to match the high quality of the food and service.
💸 Final Bill: £55 (for two people) Considering the food quality, quantity, and overall experience, this was excellent value for money.
⭐ Final Verdict: 4.5/5 Food: 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Value for Money: 5/5
Hygiene (Washrooms): 2/5
📌 Would I return? Without a doubt. If the hygiene of the restrooms improves, this place could easily be one of the best desi dining spots...
Read moreI’d like to take a moment to write a few words about my recent visit to My Peshawar, Manchester, which took place on the last Bank Holiday Monday. I drove all the way from Wales to visit some family in Manchester, and upon their recommendation, we decided to try out this restaurant.
Firstly, despite it being an incredibly busy day, I was genuinely stunned at how well the team managed the crowd. There was a queue outside, but the staff were handling everything so politely and professionally. The manager greeted us at the door, took our details, and informed us there might be a wait of around an hour and a half — which I thought was completely fair given the rush. In reality, we were called in after about 40-45 minutes.
We were seated exactly as requested, in a comfortable booth, and were served by a friendly and attentive waiter named Awais. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, I must say that the service was exceptional. The management deserves some real praise. I watched the manager walk around, engaging with both staff and customers, checking every detail which truly is, a rare and admirable quality. Being from a management background myself, I understand how tough it is to maintain standards, especially under pressure with queues outside and a packed restaurant inside. Yet they managed it all seamlessly.
Now to the food — we ordered two main dishes: the Charsi Chicken Karahi and the Charsi Lamb Karahi. Both were served piping hot in traditional Peshawari karahi pots, bursting with authentic flavours and spice. The naan and roti were fresh and soft, and the meal was rounded off with a complimentary cup of green tea, which was a perfect touch. The Kabuli Pulao was just truly brilliant, full of true flavor and served with carrots and raisins.
On the way back, I said to myself — I will definitely return, not just for the food, but to personally see and thank the management team again — especially Hussam and Awais for the way they treated us.
I wholeheartedly wish My Peshawar continued success and a long, bright...
Read moreVisited My Peshawar Manchester recently and while the food and service truly impressed, a few key issues held back the overall experience.
The wait time was quite long — we had to wait almost an hour for a table as they don’t offer bookings, which is a bit of a downside, especially on busy evenings. That said, once we were seated, the service from ordering to receiving the food was very quick, and everything was served piping hot.
Starters: • Masala Fish: Arrived hot, crispy coating, and well-seasoned. The portion size was good and the fish pieces were just right. • Mixed Grill: Served on a sizzling platter, everything was fresh and tasty without any artificial colouring — a rare find these days. The lamb chops in particular were outstanding — tender, juicy, and melted in the mouth.
Mains: • Charsi Lamb Karahi: Exceptionally flavourful and the lamb was beautifully tender. • Chapli Kebab: Well-seasoned, juicy, and full of flavour — one of the better ones I’ve had.
Now the downside — the ventilation/extraction system seriously lets the restaurant down. I was seated near the entrance, far from the kitchen, and could still feel the smoke hanging in the air. We left absolutely reeked of grilled meats and onions. It was so strong that our clothes smelled long after leaving. Additionally, due to the poor extraction, the tiled floor had a visible layer of grease and felt slippery — not ideal from a cleanliness or safety perspective.
In summary: ✅ Food – Delicious and authentic. ✅ Service – Friendly and fast once seated. ❌ Ventilation – Needs urgent attention. ❌ Greasy floor – A hygiene concern. ❌ No booking system – Expect long waits.
I would genuinely love to return because the food is fantastic and prices are reasonable, but unless something is done about the extraction and air quality, it’s hard to fully enjoy the dining experience. Highly recommended...
