Mugli where should I begin? The atmosphere was decent seating was okay to make you feel cozy they light up a little candle on the table which is practically running by a miracle as the candle is all burnt out and fighting for life at the bottom of the candle holder. The whole dining area is freezing they have one electric heater on that’s supposed to supply heat to everyone hilarious. Service was standard as a take away shop they got our order wrong twice and the worst part of everything is the service charge bill they add on which is £10 on top of the food for basically the staff bringing food to our table when they’re not huddled in a corner chit chatting ignoring everyone. Let’s get to the main part the food was absolutely horrible. The starters were an abomination the lamb chops were tasteless and chewy. The scorpion prawns felt like I was dying in the water with them one bite in to them and you could taste a full table spoon of salt no flavour and no spice. The seekhkebab roll was okay I guess it’s not hard to wrap it in a light chappati with cheese and store bought sweet chilli sauce so paying a tenner for just the roll made me want to wrap my self in the chappati as it’s an insult to everyone. The Malai broccoli was a joke they smacked it on to the grill charcoaled it threw salt and pepper on it and whacked the whole thing including the head on to a plate with an unknown orange sauce that looked and tasted like back up vomit oh but for the aestheticness they threw On a couple of pomegranates to justify the price for the 50p broccoli head you get at Aldi. I still didn’t learn my lesson and leave after all that decided to play with my stomach and intestines by waiting for the main courses. Ordered the butter chicken and it was the biggest mistake of the night and the trip to Manchester. The sweetness and coconut milk mixed together made me want to puke back in to the fancy little pot as there was enough room to accommodate for it considering they charge extortionate prices and throw in 4 chicken pieces. How does a curry restaurant get a butter chicken wrong it’s the most easiest dish to make my 10 year old child could make better chicken in gravy with 5 tablespoons of sugar and tomato purée because that is basically what it was with orange food colouring thrown in to disguise the nasty mess they served. The second main ordered was the naga chilli chicken dish an absolute joke. How do you manage to mess up a naga dish. Naga supposed to be spicy was fished out from mugli being sweet was an absolute joke . Tasted exactly like the butter chicken but with a table spoon of naga in there so I’ll leave that right there so you guys can fill in the blanks. The best thing of the night was the coco cola and the mango lassi so basically I wasted 150 quid on a nice glass of drinks with a quarter lime and a glass cup . Such a let down and now I have the aftermath to look forward to as my stomach is bubbling and gurgling from it. Worst place to exist out there and what a waste of a spot on Winslow road!! Would not recommend to any people or...

Service is horrible its non existent they are just running around like headless chickens. After my order was taken they lost it so only got thr drinks and mains. Had to ask for the table to be cleared after starters sat around for 10 mins thinking they might do thier job. 25 mins after the table was cleared I asked where are my mains got told 2 mins ill let you know watched the take an order and do other things and then tell me 2 mins. 10 later I asked again overheard that the ticket was lost so they haven't even started told the manager forget it bill me I'm going. He did ask to bare with him but the food so far was medicare so wasn't going to wait for potentially more mediocre food. Didn't charge the service charge as he said there was no service provided. Yeah I know I was the customer. As for the atmosphere the pace is very dark which isn't bad its the flicker candle on your table, the overpowering smell of incense which is being burnt near the bar so it reals throughout. Its not the nice incense this stuff makes your head hurt. Top it off some of the tables are oddly placed so people are just constantly going over you and the music my days loud and drummy felt like I was in jumanji. Literally the most headache enduring environment I've ever been too. The food well let's start with the good the chutney is nice and the chicken and lamb shell were a 7 lamb chops and solid 8. The rest of sizzler was weak chicken tandoori and the yellow one were bland 1 dimensional tatse, the mains I never got, the menu needs sorting soda and jucies are under 1 section the only clue Limca is a canned drink is imported from India makes you think it could be a lime lemon juice. By the way don't try it it tastes vile the after tatse is pure chemical. As for the lemonade soda its pretty awful aswell I mean like Schweppes has a clean tatse what are these guys buying Barr lemonades unwanted cousin. Overall the food is geared to non Asian palate, no depth of flavour, no kick at all, just colour. If this is desi food I'm sorry you have lost your minds. 33 years and you haven't even come close to slap up meal pet alone authentic design food. Service dead Food bland Atmosphere overpowering Will never recommend to anyone or...

I remember going to Mughli a few years ago when it first opened...and I wasn't impressed.

Never went back until this week. Met a few friends there for dinner on a Tues night...and it was a lot better than I remembered!

The grills are the obvious standout in terms of food. We ordered the king prawns, lamb chops, seekh kebabs (chicken and lamb) and tandoori chicken. All were really tasty...perhaps the seekh kebabs were not quite to the same standard as the others. There was nothing wrong with them...but you can get better in a lot of places in MCR.

The issue I did have with the grilled starters was the price. I know it's tough for restaurants these days so I don't like to complain too much about prices...but these were a little toppy. For eg;

£8.50 for 2 seekh kebabs £10 for 2 tandoori chicken thighs £4.30 for 1 lamb chop...we ordered 6 which came to nearly £26!

The only starter I didn't have an issue with on price were the prawns...even though they were £5 a piece (!) they were much bigger than an average king prawn and they were fresh.

For mains we ordered a few main dishes - butter chicken, the staff lamb and potato curry, tarka dal along with 4 tandoori rotis and 2 portions of rice.

The curries were ok...not bad but not great by any means. And while the prices were only a little higher than expected at £14 the portion sizes were quite disappointing.

On top of that the prices for the sides was silly...£4 for rotis that were regular sized.

Btw...we also ordered soft drinks as we were all driving...and again the prices were ridiculous. £4.30 for a 250ml can of soda is not justifiable in my opinion.

We didn't have any deserts...and our bill came to £186.

Overall I didn't mind Mughli...it's a good looking and modern place that is fully licensed (which is a rarity in Rusholme)...but the owners have designed the menu to squeeze the absolute maximum out of diners.

If the food and service was great all round I would not mind...but apart from the prawns....there wasn't anything I ate that I couldn't get somewhere else for less cost or better quality.

And charging 10% service on top of the bill automatically annoyed...

My first stop on Curry Mile, and before I even stepped inside, I was hit with the intoxicating aroma of curry, sizzling spices, and smoky grilled meats wafting through the air. The scent alone had my mouth watering—I knew I was in for something special. I went all in and ordered the Scorpion Prawns, Charred Lamb Chops, Butter Chicken, Naan, and Basmati Rice—and every dish delivered a bold, spice-packed punch. The Scorpion Prawns were a fiery revelation. Bathed in a smoky, curry-infused marinade, they had an addictive, slow-building heat that lingered just long enough before giving way to the spices and char undertones beneath. Each bite was both intense and balanced, making them impossible to stop eating. Then came the Charred Lamb Chops—and wow, these were next-level. Perfectly grilled with a beautifully seared crust, the lamb was infused with a deep, aromatic spice blend of cumin, cinnamon, and cardamom, giving it a rich, almost smoky warmth. Every bite was juicy, tender, and packed with complex layers of flavor. The Butter Chicken was creamy, velvety, and undeniably well-made—but just a touch sweeter than I’m used to. The tomato-based sauce had a rich, buttery smoothness, infused with smoky paprika, garam masala, and just a hint of fenugreek. While I tend to prefer a bit more of a savory kick, I could still appreciate the way the flavors melded together into something comforting and indulgent. Of course, the perfect pairings were fresh naan and basmati rice. The naan was warm, pillowy, and slightly charred—ideal for soaking up every last drop of sauce. The rice, fragrant and perfectly cooked, carried subtle hints of cinnamon and clove, adding a delicate balance to the bold spices of the meal. From the fiery intensity of the prawns to the deep, smoky warmth of the lamb and the rich, creamy butter chicken, this meal was a celebration of spice in all its forms. My first stop on Curry Mile set the bar high, and I already know I’ll be back for more

The most disappointing Indian restaurant I have been so far (coming from an Indian myself). Travelled to Manchester for the weekend and found this spot. This isn’t an India street food location. This is basic food with a sprinkle of seasoning and spices. Ordered a Mixed Grill. £32 was a plate of meat with zero flavour. Just salt and a super small dash of garam masala. My partner ordered a chicken tikka masala. Whilst I know this is a “British Indian Dish”, it was terrible. Tasted like the chicken was cooked separately and then tapped onto a bowl of yoghurt and garam masala. Had to ask for a refund of this particular item. As for the service, there was no common sense. Stacked out dirty plates to one side, and were served our starters without no plates. I asked for plates, the lady came and gave plates and didn’t clear the others. Another lady who served us said “ready to order?” Not even a “hello” “how are you” just a “ready?”. She had a cough which is normal, but there was so attempt to cover her mouth, just openly coughed over us and took our order. £4.50 for a Kopperberg and you bring me a small can? An absolute joke! Never seen before. Extremely overpriced for the food. £5.50 for papadum and chutneys? Next time I’ll just say no thanks. As for the atmosphere, great design and great general music ect. But the food and service was a major let down. Again, as a South Indian, I do not recommend coming here unless a change happens. Visited Saturday 14th May.

An amazingly decorative indian restaurant with authentic cuisine and lovely service. Nice food and service. A little more expensive than your local curry house but great for that mainstream indian food experience. Pros : tasty food. Large variety. Loads of vegan options. Great waiter service. Fast food service even on busy days. Amazing design all around to give it that authentic Indian look. Cons: can be pricey especially if you order lots of starters as each one costs £5. Expect 6 starters and 4 mains with naan bread and drinks to cost £100 for 4 people. Starters are tiny but tasty. Tight space for wheelchair users especially on busy times and days. Loud and noisy. Toilets are very claustrophobic and small. Even the stairs that lead up to them is big enough only for 1 slim person. Overall it was the most authentic looking place in wilmslow road with great variety of food and amazing tasty cuisine. The service was great but the price was a little steep. Toilets were too small but if you only come to eat you should have no problem unless its Sunday night and you have a wheelchair user with you like I did.
