Since moving to Chorlton, The Drop has become one of our 'go to' takeaways and, when the mood takes us, restaurants to visit. Always reasonably priced (especially in January when they have had offers on this year and in the past!), with really tasty Carribbean food, I'd highly recommend it either as a takeaway or as somewhere to eat in. On the takeaway side of things, me and my partner usually order a hench box between us, along with some extra dumplings. And that's usually enough for the two of us! We're big fans of the goat in particular, but the jerk chicken is also good. We tend to get a takeaway from here every couple of months or so, and have no complaints at all about any of them - the food is always great. On eating in, again our experience has always been great! However, you can expect it to be quite busy and tight for space at times (it's not the biggest restaurant, size wise). This is especially the case around weekends or when an offer is on. If you aren't a fan of bustle then it might not be for you, but me and my partner quite like that side of it - it really adds to the atmosphere I'd say, personally. The food is great and when we last visited, we had the curried goat, the pepper steak with spinners, some rice and peas, and dumplings. It all tasted fab - strong flavour, a nice kick of spice without being overpowering, with plenty of the rice and dumplings to mop up the sauce. It was fantastic, and we both finished our plates which was no mean feat, as they were generous portions! There's a range of drinks you can get alongside the meal, and when we last visited we stuck with the beers. However, they also do a range of cocktails too. We visited during the January food offer, so for our two drinks, mains and sides, plus service, it came to just over £30. An absolute bargain, for what we got! And definitely reasonable at full price too. Service when we visited was also good, with the caveat that the place is very busy and so it can feel a bit chaotic at times (which isn't a bad thing as I think it adds to the charm!). But on quite a hectic evening with the restaurant pretty full, we were seated, had our order taken, were served our food, and paid without any problems and with good service throughout. All in all, a really good place to either dine in or get a takeaway, and during January a must visit as it is an absolute bargain!

Came here for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and it was awesome. We chose to sit outside (covered) as it was sunny. It wasn't cold at all but the staff turned on a heater for us. Lovely gesture. We always like trying new dishes that aren't 'typical' for us non-natives. Instead of ordering jerk chicken, we ordered Curry Goat (£9.80), Ackee and Salt Fish (£10.50), Coconut Rice 'n' Peas (£3.25) and Fried Dumplings (£3.50). Food came at reasonable time and the portions were generous. Very homely meals and we absolutely loved them. Both dishes had its unique flavours and I loved the combination of the curry and the fried dumplings. I enjoyed the dumplings absorbing the sauce. To me, the curry is more like goat gravy with added curry powder but it was still delicious as the curry wasn't overpowering. The Ackee and Salt Fish was something different; it had a punch of flavours but not overly salty from the fish. It was good with the rice. We had a fabulous time there. Thank you for the food and the service. Hope to visit again very soon. Highly recommended in Chorlton for Jamaican food!

Love it here. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing but if you don't like loud music and a lot of people best choose to go off peak. And take cash ... no cards. Update 2022 Back again and I had intended to photograph the food but we couldn't resist diving in, so there is a pic of empty plates 😃. When I think of Carribean food I imagine warm spices peppers and rich exotic flavours, meat that falls of the bone and soft sweet vegetables. The Drop delivers in grand style and in a cosy rustic dining area. We had the Drop Hench Box with Curry Goat and Stew Chicken a side of steamed veg and a side of Sweet Potato fries. We shared this and let's just say, if you go there, be hungry when you go. Minor things happened, the veg was VERY al dente, the fries were not sweet potato, the chicken, was breast so a bit dry. Non the less, very enjoyable and the gravy is to die for. Oh and if you have the rum punch, don't be driving home. It's still loud, the staff are great, and the parking is still atrocious. They do take cards now though.

Was really looking forward in trying a Sunday dinner with a twist, I did look at the reviews and their Instagram which tempted me to go with a friend and try this place out. AS IT LOOKED REALLY GOOD!! Unfortunately when they bought the Sunday Roast which I ordered it came with two missing items and lacked items also including the mash and steamed veg and it only came with one roast potato (one segment of a potato cut ) same with the sweet potato. The gravy wasn’t great and didn’t go with the Caribbean food taste. They finally did bring the missing items after complaining and it wasn’t what I expected at all. Rushed mash and just peas and sweetcorn steamed which isn’t Caribbean at all! So disappointed tbh.. Tasted good but incomplete and doesn’t match up to what the menu says just shows they are lazy and just whip anything together so it looked good. Wasn’t given any discount on the poor service or missing food and we paid over £85+ for. Wouldn’t recommend tbh.

This restaurant is a complete scam, I ordered nearly £40 worth of food to receive a couple of side dishes worth about £10. It was all cold on arrival and on phoning the restaurant I was told there was nothing they could do and blamed just eat for taking the wrong order when it was clearly their fault for giving the driver the wrong order. The girl I spoke to attitude was disgraceful!! They have also not supplied a receipt with the order so you can't get your money back through just eat as they need a photo of it to process the refund. All in all an absolutely disgrace, I would not go anywhere near this place unless you want to be robbed of money. If I was closer to the actual place I would have gone back with it and threw it at them!!!
