DISAPPOINTING!
Visit: Sunday late afternoon, July 2024, 4 People Bill: £130 Ordered: Jumbo Philly Cheese Spring Roll, Prawn Toast Steak Sando, The OG Platter, Slow Cooked Birria Lamb Fries, 2x Nutella Milkshake, Salted Caramel Milkshake
We bought into the very good marketing of Brewski and left very disappointed. Overall the food was slightly above average, but certainly not worthy of the very high price tags. Portion sizes, for the price, are small - but we had WAY WAY TOO MUCH FOOD.
When asked, the waiter told us the OG Platter served 2-3 people, I would strongly argue this is definitely 3-4 persons. Two Burgers, Two burritos, 5 chicken strips and a pile of chips would have fed us all. So in retrospect, we feel lied to that we needed to order more, and feel as though this was a succesful upsell procedure to get more sales.
Spring Roll: Very nice, quite large, but only one of them. Cheese sauce is really good. Prawn Toast Steak Sando: Small and underwhelming. Chewy steak. OG Platter: Burgers were quite dry. Burritos were by far the best part and very good. Buffalo chicken strips had soggy coating and none of us liked them. Poutine fries were not very authentic, cheese was too stringy to be cheese curds. The fries are good though. Lamb Birria Fries: Lamb was good, if a little overpowering and very minty. However, £21 for this dish is obscene - its a plate of topped fries and while big enough for a main dish should not be. Milkshakes: Both excellent
Service: We removed the added service charge out of principle and were met with quite a cold response. We were disappointed that we were misled with how much food to purchase. This same waiter suggested his top picks from the menu, one of which being the prawn toast steak sando, which is hard to believe is anyones favourite quite frankly. There was an additional carbon-free dining charge of £1, I don't mind this but adding it on automatically feels cheeky.
Overall: Very disappointed and extremely unlikely to return. Would express that people who still wish to go, may still have a better experience than us - but beware of the portion sizes, prices and having too high expectations from their marvellous Instagram marketing. It's average at a...
Read moreVery disappointed with our recent visit to Brewski. We came as a party of four - myself and my partner as returning customers who usually love the platters, and two guests joining us for the first time on our recommendation. We travelled nearly an hour for my partner’s birthday and ordered the roast platter. We waited almost an hour for food that arrived cold, and the items were not as described on the menu - no garlic roast potatoes (instead we got cold, dry ones). We were told one of the platter items was unavailable but that we’d be given extra of something else to make up for it. This never happened, and the portion size overall was actually less than if we’d just ordered individual roasts, which we now wish we had for half the price. On top of that, there was barely a drizzle of gravy, and we really wouldn’t expect to be charged extra for more when paying £80 for a platter.
My mum also ordered the loaded fries, which had to be sent back as they arrived freezing cold too. To make matters worse, when leaving we saw another table being served a roast platter that was double the size of ours, with Yorkshire puddings filled with gravy and cheese - exactly as described on the menu, but nothing like what we received.
We raised our concerns and even asked for the service charge to be removed, but no apology was given and no one checked if everything was okay. Altogether, the bill came to £167, which is really upsetting to spend on what was meant to be a celebration meal, only for it to fall below average in every way. Such a shame, as we’ve enjoyed Brewski in the past, but this experience has completely put us...
Read moreBeen a couple of times here both coming away disappointed. The first time we went with a few friends and we were all talking about it for weeks looking forward to all the burgers etc. We arrive, drinks are ordered then food is ordered. Then it all went down hill, 40 mins later we ask where are drinks are and the food. They forgot, they did apologise and first round of drinks were free which is understandable. Food came out rushed in a matter of 5 mins wasn’t warm just reheated and somehow everything was spicy, we tried each others and everything was spicy when it wasn’t supposed to be. So we left disappointed and it really put me off going again.
So second time, me and my wife arrive before going into to town thought we would give it another go. We are seated drinks and food ordered great 👍. 15 mins later everything is out which you’d think that’s quick which it is but, we order one do the sharing boards which has like 2 burgers 2 wraps etc yes a lot of food for 2 people pushed out in 15 mins. Again food wasn’t thoroughly hot more like re heated like they’ve made a whole batch of things then just send out whatever is ordered. We were done in under 1 hour.
Overall it’s not amazing doesn’t live up to the hype at all and the food is bang average. I’d recommend going to the laundrette or rudys these places are amazing.
Unfortunately I won’t be returning to brewski...
