So I ventured out of town to the famous ‘Double Zero Pizza’ to see what all the fuss was about. On arrival the restaurant is packed and smells amazing. Our table isn’t ready just yet so we hung round outside perusing the menu. This restaurant doesn’t have a bar license so make sure you take a few drinks if you want alcohol.
Very friendly staff got us seated asap. We had a cute table on the patio. Atmosphere was bustling, lots of chatter and laughter, great to be in the middle of!
We ordered starters, we went for the Beef Ragu arancini and the Fig crostinis. The arancini was amazing. Like AMAZING. Best I think I’ve ever had. Had the perfect flavour balance, not to dry, not too wet, WOW! Crostinis were great as well but came with balsamic, which I’m personally not a huge fan of. Still a fantastic dish and I’d order again.
I had the Volcuno pizza which had roasted Jalapeños and hot honey. The pizza was delicious. The dough was very tasty. The only small issue was the very centre of the pizza was still raw. I could see the gluten stretching! Still this didn’t bother me too much, I was enjoying my meal so I just ate around it.
Staff were attentive and very friendly throughout, really great service. We decided to go for dessert, we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. Obviously I got a coffee too. Tiramisu was gorgeous, I’d go back just for that. Had such a fluffy lightness, chefs kiss! Gelato was also delicious and paired delightfully with my expresso.
Overall fantastic venue with authentic Italian food and great staff. What’s...
Read moreThis is definitely double zero if I could give NO stars I would! Went here on Friday, about 16 of us. Pizza and appetisers are very expensive. Fabio's review is right pizza under cooked, soggy and watery. Staff are in a world of their own. I ordered a orange juice which didn't arrive, I had eaten my meal and had to remind that particular staff to bring it. Another occasion was dietary I asked what meat was on the pizza's and that member was constantly going past me as if I never asked so I had call her over and repeat the question. Thirdly a lady brought the bill over which was in excess of £143 and was paid. About ten minutes later the lady on the second occasion brought the same/duplicate bill over and me my brother insisted we have paid which she recalled the other staff member coming to us. This is really appalling, I'm sure they expected us to be drunk and pay the bill again. This actually must happen to other consumers that have had a alcoholic drink(s) and it's completely wrong and scandalous. The manager needs to really get a grip on these antics. If I don't mention them then they will not...
Read moreBooked in for 4pm for a table of 4 on Sunday, we were the first people to arrive in the restaurant. Our food orders were taken around 4:15, after a couple that had arrived a few minutes after us, we ordered no starters, just a pizza each. The couple received their starters and other customers arrived and were seated. We were chatting and waiting for our food (the pizzas take 90 seconds to cook). We watched as all other tables were served, including a table of 6 to 8 people. I asked the waitress at 4:45 if we had much longer to wait, she said our food was in the oven. No apology for the wait. Two pizzas came out of the oven at 4:50....and were walked straight past us to another table. Our food eventually got to us at 5pm, a full hour after we sat down, again no apology. The food was good, but we were absolutely starving at that point. Oh and we had to pay £8 for the privilege of bringing (and opening) our own bottle of wine. A £1.99 each charge. Not sure why you punish your customers for not having a liquor license? Won't be back, Rudy's is just up the road and a mich...
