The Hillary Step — Restaurant in Manchester

This is one of my favourite pubs as there is always a good selection of beers and a good atmosphere. However on Saturday night they only had two staff working! The poor waitress was run ragged and we had to wait 20 minutes for our first drink. Please sort this out!

So an update on my previous review. Although covid restrictions have been lifted, this pub still seems to be insisting on table service. This is annoying for two reasons, firstly that typically you have to wait 10 - 15 minutes for your drinks to arrive, and secondly you feel obligated to tip as the option always comes up on their card machine. I used to live just a short stroll from here so it served as my local for a few years. Sadly I have moved but still pop by whenever Im in the area. Great, ever-changing selection of real ales. Various high quality barsnacks available too, like wasabi beans and mini kabana sausages, and you can pick your favourite four for a platter deal. Decor is simple and functional and there's a nice beer garden at the front which catches afternoon and early evening sunshine. Great little pub. I'm hesitant for even more to discover this pub as can be hard to get a seat on a Friday night or a sunny afternoon! Manager is friendly and helpful. Great beer selection. I used to be sad about limited wine choices until I got more into the beers! They also do cocktails. Great atmosphere for post work drinks, the best bar around for ages, nice to not need to walk down into proper Chorlton.
