A genuine pub right in the heart of Manchester, tucked auspiciously in a corner by Oxford Road train station. Its clean, well maintained and the staff are friendly. I once saw The Salisbury as a reluctant alternative to the ever busy metal-head bar that shelters it from the torrent of Oxford Street, Grand Central. But now I wouldn't step foot inside that place (not that they would have me, with my lack of sleeveless denim jacket, dock martins, band t-shirt and matching band tattoo) because The Salisbury is infinitely more appealing. They have a great selection of guest ales, a pool table with immaculate cues, a cosy backyard smoking area and best of all a warm atmosphere that welcomes all sections of society. To sum up, what I'm trying to say is that its a chilled out place with good beer, and you should check it...
Read moreHaving been out celebrating Man City's title win, I called into this pub for a pint and I was heavily discriminated against for wearing a casual City jacket!! The manager told me the pub doesn't allow football type clothing to be worn inside the pub- fair enough but then he suggested that my friend removes his jacket and gives it to me to wear for the duration of me being inside the pub!!
Upon leaving the pub I saw a man playing pool who was wearing a Man City t shirt!?!? I then questioned the manager about the guy playing pool only to be told by the manager that "the guy playing pool spends a lot of money here"...!?!?
Extreme discrimination right here. So the rules can be easily changed depending on how much money a person spends inside the pub!?!? Absolutely disgusting and extremely discriminatory...
Read moreWas in Manchester last Friday for a gig. Went in here with my brother and I absolutely loved it. I'm from Hull so not much of a nightlife. The atmosphere in here was absolutely brilliant, great choice of cask ales and like someone has already mentioned, it has a rock and role vibe. I love my rock music and it was fitting to end up in here after seeing a rock band play at the 02 arena. Staff very friendly and despite it been heaving service was quick and efficient. Honestly I don't get much further then Hull, and the pubs in Manchester are just worlds apart from what I'm used to, the Salisbury has left a very positive effect on me. Can't wait to visit again when I'm next...
