Like me you probably look at the reviews for a place, jumping to the negative reviews first to see of they're justified in the annoyance. Let me say first that previously I'd have given Amore nearly five stars and rated it as one of the best in Melton. But my most recent visit a few weeks ago was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. Yes it's taken a few weeks for me to get round to it but sometimes it's better not too just "react" and give yourself time to reflect.
Our visit was a special occasion to celebrate a new job. We ordered starters of calamari and salmon pate. The calemari was cold and came with a salad which had seen better days, not to mention was straight out of what looked to be a supermarket packet. The "garlic mayonnaise " was substituted with tartar sauce again from a jar. The salmon pate faired a similar fate with brown at the edges salad. The main course continued the poor show with dreadful overcooked scalops as dry as sandpaper and more packet salad with purifying brown edges. This was the last straw and i complained. The managers excuse? "Sorry, what can i do"!
All told i paid over £50 for a dreadful meal which left me feeling robbed. Yes robbed. They did finally remove the cost of one main but I'm saddened that Melton has in my opinion lost one of the few places i would rate as being good to outstanding . Shame...
Read moreWe had our Wedding lunch here 6 years ago and always returned for our anniversary especially. It used to be our favourite restaurant in Melton. But since Alex and Monica left, we have been twice and both times we have been less than impressed. Last night my husband had duck which was OK, but the sauce was bland and the vegetables were so little, he came home and had something to eat. My lobster was overcooked and rubbery, not pleasant at all. I vould tell as soon as it arrived, it wasnt right so not sure why the chef could tell. Needless to say we won't be returning again. Such a shame as we used to love this restaurant before it changed hands. The service and staff were very friendly so for that I do give...
Read moreI really hate to leave a negative review, but you need a new chef. Amore used to be my favourite restaurant in Melton before if changed hands, however this is my second bad meal in two months (both on the same night of the week so presumably cooked by the same chef). My first meal was a steak which was ordered rare and came out grey, completely well done and full of grissel. Then last night I thought I'd play it safe and ordered the cheese risotto, it tasted like someone had dumped a pot of salt in it, I even got my partner to try it as he often over salts his dinner and he said it was too salty for him. The waitress was polite and professional on both occasions, but sadly I won't be giving the restaurant a...
