The pub was pretty much empty when we got there. We ordered food, a roast and a burger. The food took just shy of a hour to get to us. The burger was fine, but overpriced considering what you can get for a similar price in the area. The roast was, to put it blatantly, bad. The meat was covering the three very small halves of potato, almost as though they knew it wasn’t anywhere near a decent amount, but by hiding it they could somehow disguise the fact. There was some veg and a side of cauliflower cheese. What was probably a teaspoon of gravy was drizzled over the roast. So, we asked for some more and also asked for a few more potatoes. The guy came back with some gravy and told us the potatoes were cooking but it would be a while. So, I asked if it would be another 50 minute wait to which he shrugged and said probably. I then said I couldn’t quite understand why it took so long in the first place and why they think such a small amount of potatoes was acceptable. The guy then developed an attitude and told me “it’s a £10 roast, what do you expect?”. Now, if I was asking for more meat, I could understand his point as meat is the more expensive item on the plate, potatoes however are not. If you expect people to come back to your establishment I suggest you drop the attitude and offer better food, especially as there are places in the area offering a similar price with MUCH better quality food. We won’t...
Read moreIt is, I believe, one of the Wetherspoons pubs scheduled to be sold. I can understand why. Not the most interesting of buildings. Clearly has had no refurbishment for years . It was unusually empty for a Spoons. And we were treated to loud noises from upstairs, banging doors when staff took things like rubbish out, and barstaff who insisted on throwing empty bottles into two large plastic containers. Why they could not take one step further and place them quietly in the containers beats me. It felt like you were in a breaker's yard. The food, my wife assures me, was fine. I am a fan of Wetherspoons pubs ..cannot pass one without going in. This one is one I might just manage to resist ..unless I need to eat. It would then be tolerable. If the Devil drives needs must. But after we leave Crediton it will not be one I would rush back to if in the area. There are several lovely Spoons in Exeter, just down the road. And this one has the added distinction of being the only spoons we have been to...and we have been to a few! ...with no pizzas available! Inexplicable. Full stop...NONE . I have never before found fault with a Spoons. The breakfast I had was awful. The most tasteless sausages I have ever had the...

My boyfriend ordered a fried buttermilk chicken burger with cheddar cheese and bacon but just received a standard buttermilk chicken burger..... (We paid extra money for the extra ingredients!)
Half way through eating our meals the waiter came up with our custom burgers. We told him that THOSE were the ones we wanted. Surely he should've just binned the wrong ones and let us have our custom ones!! But no he turned around and didn't give us the food WE ORDERED!
The couple next to us were waiting up to an hour for their food!
At least the staff were polite, friendly and apologetic. The place is nice and clean and the food tastes absolutley lovely so will go again but pity they...
