Ok, so I have to review this sandwich shop. 1) because I promised the owner i would, but mainly 2) because it changed my life. This sandwich shop makes a sandwich called the El Cubano. I literally can't describe to you how good this sandwich is. It's a mix of textures and flavours creating the most heavenly combination ever sold as a sandwich. The owner is American (I think he said California area - please forgive me if i got this wrong) and all the goods in the shop / deli seem to come from overseas and are amazing! (NB: They serve Root beer, and not just the bundaberg stuff either, proper root beer). The service is great, they are friendly and great to talk to, the food is out of this world, and the whole experience is amazing. I initially stopped in when i was in the area, and i now drive door to door 50 minutes just for this sandwich. You can call ahead if you don't have long and i recommend when this whole pandemic blows over, sitting in the store to eat as it is a lovely deli. It's a hidden gem in all the best ways. Also, they do soups and things for the healthy minded people but frankly, if you aren't ordering a sandwich here, you have no business owning tastebuds. Basically VISIT THIS DELI or forever live with mediocre sandwiches.
Note to owner, if you ever fancy experimenting with new items, i can garuntee you the sale of at least 2 (per fortnight) Philly...
Read moreThis is an excellent sandwich shop / deli. Not only Matteo took Hassocks lunch opportunities to a completely new (and much higher) level, but you can also buy things you hardly will be able to get elsewhere (like truffle crisps!). I love the Chinese chicken salad but the absolute champion is El Cubano, of course. Let alone the coffee (always a double shot!). And artisan ice cream (American size portions which pleases a certain 11-year old no end). Hassocks wouldn't be the same without this place, i'm...
Read moreI'm a Spanish person who loves good food. I've lived in England for over 13 years now and this is, by far, the best tapas I've tried. The quality of food is just outstanding (even better than in Spain). The Chef (please notice the capital C) is a perfectionist who achives perfection. The service is amazing and in a very cozy atmosphere. There are not long waiting times, but you don't feel rushed by the staff. Price is also very good for the quality. A simple MUST for...
