Lemongrass — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

The restaurant itself really is quite nice. Spacious and bright, it was very loud and packed perhaps some nice Thai background music, we were lucky to be seated without a reservation on a Friday Eve about 8 o'clock. I was struck by how loud the atmosphere was, talking obviously is welcomed at a restaurant but it was particularly loud, perhaps that would be curbed with some background music.

The food was really very tasty, we had the menu option A which was enough food for two people. A very nice starter platter and two different curries. Noodles and a veg dish. What let the whole evening down was how long it took for the food to arrive. The prawn crackers we were offered were tasty but it was quite a while before the starter platter arrived. Far far far too long. 1 hour after arriving we still didn't have our main course and we were absolutely starving. So when it did arrive the enjoyment was lost. As we are quite quickly and left not long after that.

We had to grab attention from waiters. Whilst waiting we weren't taken notice of or offered more drinks or snacks.

Called up on 30th of December to pre order a meal for delivery on 31st of December at 8pm. By 9:15pm we had no food and no call to explain that food was late. We tried calling for 25 minutes, and could not get through. I then walked 20 minutes to the restaurant to be told that the food had not yet been started and that there was a 'queue of people' before me and it would be at least half an hour before put food would be done - which is over 2 hours later than we pre-ordered our food for the day before.

On top of this the chap behind the till was very unapologetic with the explanation that tonight was busy and that 'it just hadn't worked out'. After explaining that surely capacity should be known and a telephone call informing us of the 2+ hours delay would have been the very least we'd expect, I was told 'you don't need to tell me how to run a takeaway'. We’ve ordered from Lemongrass on several occasions - no issue all good.

Tonight I order a vegetarian massaman curry takeaway. Food arrived marked with a V. On the order slip it stated tofu and vegetable massaman curry. I had a few bites and asked my husband if the odd texture I was eating was meat, he confirmed it was beef I had been eating. I have been vegetarian for 35 years. I was subsequently sick.

I called the restaurant and was told “oh yes the kitchen has made a mistake” they could send me another curry. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told I had to sort a refund out with Uber eats.
