Very disappointed in the service in this place. Came for food on Friday night, walked in, sat down, ordered on the app and when my soft drink arrived I was asked to present some ID but I didn't have any on me. Generally when they need ID there is staff on the door checking as people come in. Given that I had not ordered alcohol I was slightly confused but understood that this was the policy. I asked to speak to the manager to see if we could sort anything as we had already ordered food. It was when the manager stepped in to 'help' the situation that I was appalled at the service. She was very aggressive towards me and my partner and basically tried to kick us out as though we had done something wrong. We were told to get out and that she would give us our money back but there was no sort of compromise offered at all until she spoke to the kitchen staff and realised our food was ready and they would lose money. I did point out that she hadn't checked everyone's ID and she very gruffly replied that she absolutely had but then proceeded to go round the rest of the pub checking IDs. It made us feel singled out and unwelcome in our own local! I did offer her some feedback at the time to say if she had spoken to us calmly and explained the situation with a bit of compassion people would be more likely to see her side, but the aggression we experienced was horrendous and how on earth she is a manager speaking to paying customers like that...

Being short of money we elected to come here. We managed to have two pints and two double archers and lemonade for £14.

Whilst there is no music, which was nice since we wanted to chat, the pub was ok. Admittedly the tables could have been cleared since there were a fair amount of dirty dishes on the table. This is purely aesthetics, but would make the place a bit nicer when you walk in, first impressions counts.

The staff, given how busy there were, were excellent. The beer tasted exactly the same as the pub up the road which is my local and cost £2 more.

Essentially, I would come here again for a couple of drinks if I were a bit short. If..... Well if it were cleaner I'd be happier. But I understand it's a budget pub and it achieved the goal of a couple of drinks.

The staff are great. The beer tasted lovely. I can't fault the staff or the product. Bit it could be cleaner is the short version.

Still 5/5 because it achieved a goal another...

Food: Very good quality and appetising and good range of menu items.

Location: Ok. It is located in the shopping area of the town so it is good for people to go to after shopping. However, the car parks in the area are car parks where people have to pay to put their car there but it is free after six o’Clock. So for people coming in by car for lunch will have to pay for parking.

Price: Very good value.

Service: Good and bad. There are no waiters/waitresses to take orders so the food has to be ordered at the bar. However, it is good that you pay before you eat because you don’t have to wait for the bill and you can just leave. Another good thing is that you can choose where to sit rather than being directed to a table. The wait for the food is terrible, it took far too long for the food to arrive.
