This pub advertises rugby matches on its website, so I phoned up and booked a table for the Eng vs NZ game. When I arrived and asked for my table, the barmaid looked at me like I was mental. Apparently they don't reserve tables for you and you just pick one that's free (fortunately there were lots available but I'm not sure what would have happened if all were occupied?). We asked if they were doing food and the two staff members had no idea, just looked at each other in bewilderment (if you were working Saturday night wouldn't you know this? One of them had to go to the kitchen and ask). Anyway, the rugby was starting in 30 minutes and they assured us that it would be on the TVs. Kick off came and went and nothing happened - the two staff members just didnt have a clue what was going on. A load of us left because we knew it was a hopeless cause and they weren't very interested in helping us. They were nice but useless. The pub seems like it could be a good place but its too disorganised for me to bother exploring again. Dont advertise rugby on your website if you dont intend...
Read moreAt first glance I was impressed with the beer line up on tap. We weren’t seated to our table, which is okay for a mediocre pub but would be better if they took more pride in their service. We ordered our food for a decent price of £14 for a burger and £14 for 3 small plates. The food took 55 minutes which is an absolute joke as there was only about 4 tables eating. The waiter didn’t say a work at all when serving the food, he just threw it on the table. The food was awful, the tacos consisted of cheap wraps with 90% lettuce and 4 small pieces of pork belly, was inedible. The Camembert was fine and so were the wings. We ordered the burger gluten free, and when it was served, it was the manager I assumed asked if we would like gluten free bread to use for the burger. She then brought out thin sliced up bread around 2 cm wide. Does she really think that would hold a burger? I suggest their team asses their service. When leaving we saw the uncle Sam’s burger restaurant which we regret not seeing before coming here, will not be coming back to the top house, its...
Read moreWalked in first thought was is it open as there was nothing switched on. It seems to be a sports bar feel than a family pub The bar person was friendly and welcoming. The selection of drinks is very good with 4 or 5 real ales. The food menu is more a light bite menu than a meal menu there was only a few main meals. The fish and chips was perfect and 5 stars for them however I give my burger a 2 star as it was burnet and it had been pulled apart by the chef to see if the inside was cooked and when I picked it up it fell apart because of it. Tip for him turn the heat down and this won't happen. The kids meal were perfect size for them and cooked perfectly. Nice garden shame it's pouring down so the kids can't go outside to try. Good car Park with plenty of space. Overall I would come back and eat again and I am just putting the burger down to a one off as all the other food was done well. Little tip to make it a bit better get crayons and paper for the kids it's inexpensive and helps keep kids...
