اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ.
I recently visited Five Akhis with my husband and young children, hoping for a pleasant family meal. The food itself was genuinely good, MashaAllah. I ordered the El’ Pape burger, which was well-seasoned and juicy, packed with lots of flavour. The cheesy fries were indulgent and satisfying and the Lotus Biscoff milkshake was rich and creamy. To top it off, the Buddha Blue mojito was refreshing. In terms of food quality, they delivered.
However, what utterly ruined the experience was the atmosphere. It was completely unsuitable for a family setting. As soon as we walked in, we were hit with really loud, thuggish rap music blaring through the speakers. This is deeply disappointing, especially considering the restaurant’s name, ‘Five Akhis.’
This name sets the expectation that the business is run with Islamic principles in mind, fostering an environment suitable for Muslim families. But what we encountered was the opposite. The atmosphere felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant to be completely honest. There was no modesty, no consideration for families and no reflection of Islamic values whatsoever.
How can there be barakah in a business that disregards the very values its name implies? The Prophet Muhammad SAW said: "When Allah blesses a person with wealth or a business, and he uses it in ways that displease Him, that wealth becomes a curse rather than a blessing."
A restaurant named Five Akhis should be a place of warmth, family and community, not one where families feel out of place due to inappropriate music and an uncomfortable atmosphere. If they truly want success in dunya and akhirah, they should remember: "And whoever fears Allah, he will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect."
To be completely honest, I cannot recommend this place for families or anyone looking for an environment that aligns with Islamic values. If you’re just after food, you might enjoy it but if you care about where your money goes and the principles behind it, I’d think twice before supporting a place that misuses an Islamic identity.
May Allah guide us...
Read moreI visited Five Akhis Northampton recently and overall had a really positive experience.
The burgers were excellent – clean, well-prepared, and full of flavour. It’s clear that premium products are being used, especially the quality of the meat, which really stood out. The fries were also very good – hot, crispy, and cooked in clean oil, which made them taste fresh rather than greasy.
I also tried the Bangla Naga Strips, and while they were cooked well, they unfortunately lacked the distinctive naga flavour I was expecting. The taste leaned more towards a curried flavour than having that authentic naga heat and kick, which was a bit of a letdown.
One of the big positives about the Northampton branch compared to Milton Keynes is the ample seating space. The dining area feels more open and comfortable, which makes it a much nicer setting to sit down and enjoy the food.
The real highlight of my visit was the service. I was looked after by Darcy, who was fantastic from start to finish. She was attentive, polite, and professional, and made sure everything was perfect without ever making us feel rushed. Darcy even did a check-back on the food – something rare these days – which shows real care for customer satisfaction. Her service was easily 5-star quality and really enhanced the whole experience.
Overall, while the food was very good (with burgers and fries standing out but naga strips falling short), the service and seating space really impressed me. For me, this visit was a solid 4-star experience for food, but an undeniable 5-star for service. Northampton definitely has the edge over Milton Keynes in terms of quality, comfort, and...
Read moreI've been wanting ro try this place since seeing it being reviewed and highly rated on a food reviewers YouTube channel. Also one of my friends mentioned it to me a few weeks ago.
As we were in the area I suggested this to my family. The place itself is quite small BUT you can tell that it is very popular and that they have built up a solid reputation for themselves with the scores of people none stop coming through the doors to pick up food for takeaway.
There is seating on the premises but very limited maybe seating for 12 people. We were fortunate to grab one of the last tables.
Staff were extremely polite, attentive and friendly. I really wanted to try a beef burger but as I had steak the night before I opted for a blazing bird chicken burger. I had it as a meal and it was presented beautifully with a healthy portion of chips. The coleslaw in the burger was amazing as was the chicken fillet itself being juicy.
The drinks selection is brilliant and is a boycott friendly selection. The establishment takes card payment which is brilliant.
I was speaking to the manager who was a genuinely lovely chap and he told me that they are in the process of opening a branch in Leicester.
Whilst the prices are more than what I would pay for in Leicester the quality of food was amazing along with a superb service.
Well done team five akhis can't wait for you guys to come...
