On 17th July 2025 my daughter and I had a fantastic and very memorable evening on the pre-opening day of the newly refurbished Stonehouse at Peartree Bridge Inn. On 13th March 2006, the day that I arrived in Britain for the first time, my husband took me to Peartree for a lovely carvery. Since then I've been hooked and have been a regular customer. My daughter visiting from SA and I were pleasantly surprised by the lovely new outside seating area and the fresh, modern, clean and inviting new look of the pub, as well as the rest rooms. We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The vibe was happy and relaxed all evening with soft music playing in the background. We took one look at the brand new menu and could hardly decide on which new dish to try. We both opted for beef lasagne with fried onion rings as that was a dish we could easily compare to other venues. We feasted with our eyes, then our mouths. The ums and ahs dit not stop! It was by far the best lasagne that I've ever had in a pub! I couldn't resist taking a picture. The portions were large and, delicious as it was, I had to eventually sit up straight while mopping up the last of the delicious meat sauce. Then the dessert arrived, which we had to share as we were getting really satisfied. That was the cherry on the cake! The warm cookie and ice-cream with chocolate sauce completely hit the spot! We left much later than we anticipated after getting warm hugs from lovely chef Adriana, very helpful Kate, Debbie, Jade and friendly good-byes from manager Ashleigh and other staff. I am spreading the word about the good value for money and the promise of a lovely family meal out. I cannot wait to try more of the exciting new dishes on the menu. After almost 20 years of being a loyal customer I look forward to many more enjoyable meals there. I can proudly take any of my friends along and can highly recommend it. From free parking, to the staff at the bar, the carvery staff and the new ice-cream and pizza bar, I applaud all the staff for your customer care and good value for money! The occasional £6 carvery deals will always be my absolute...
Read moreVisited here on the 14th August As per their response, I told them I can’t just “pop in” because I can’t get there but my bank refunded me anyway
I ordered using the QR code on the table, one of the items I ordered was part of a seasonal menu and wasn’t available the second item was the plant based chicken burger I was told I would receive a refund for the starter which wasn’t available
The waitress came out and informed me the plant based fillet was ready and I was a little confused so I asked her to clarify
Turns out they confused a burger for a carvery meal
40 minutes later my food wasn’t here and I was told I would receive a full refund for my meal
Secondly my friend who is vegetarian ordered onion rings, we asked why these and the chips were not vegan and we were told this is because it’s fried with chicken, meaning they’re not vegetarian either
When I eventually got my meal the potato tots looked fried (oily) the burger was missing the salsa sauce inside and came with a side of coleslaw
This isn’t supposed to be part of the meal, on their menu all burgers unless stated other wise, this and the other Ve burger do not come with house slaw (mayonnaise - eggs), the other Ve burger comes with “fresh slaw” (I’m guessing slaw, no mayo) they have avoided answering me about this also so I assume they have been serving eggs, which is an allergen to people who want to avoid them
2 weeks later and I haven’t got my refund and I’m told to send my refund receipt over which I obviously do not have as my promised refund was clearly never processed and apparently they can not refund an online transaction ?? despite me sending a screen shot of the order
So not only did I A not receive food I paid for B received food that wasn’t vegetarian or vegan but I am also having to chase a refund
Waitress seemed helpful and apologetic and the atmosphere was average enough
I didn’t use the toilet so I can’t comment on...
Read moreOverall this place use to be better, I would struggle to give this place beyond a 2 star rating though in it’s current state and condition.
It’s a been a place my family been coming for many of years and yeah personally as times gone on seen huge decline in the restaurant itself. Obviously that don’t mean it’s always bad recently because some days you come and it can be good but on 90% of recent occasions it’s not been good and been below par.
Yesterday was celebrating a family birthday and food was disappointing to say the very least. Peas, were certainly not fresh and been under hot plate for too long, potatoes were good actually, stuffing was alright but everything else barring the gravy, cranberry sauce and horseradish were really just disappointing.
Had a bit of all three meats, turkey, gammon and beef, also paid £1.49 extra for 4 carverys which would include pigs in blankets and these weren’t great despite the extortionate price and furthermore only was given 3 tiny sausages which were like them party sausage and they was overcooked!
In terms of the person who served me, she did a good job but I also seeing one of staff members just recording for at least a good 10 minutes the Christmas decorations. I mean to me that’s speaks volumes where this establishment is at, more interests in making maybe a TikTok post rather then getting the food quality correct.
I asked for some of the turkey skin but needless was I realize none the wiser it was burnt to a cinder!!
Now it’s meant to be crisp not cremated! I’m not a big Carvery goer and ultimately I would definitely not recommend Stonehouse to a friend. Not sure I wouldn’t even recommend it to my worst enemy. That’s how poor it is. Also the portion sizes of meat they give you is ridiculously small compared to what it use to be and small compared to what the main rival does...
