Gourmet Burger Joint — Restaurant in Milton Keynes

Unfortunately it seems this place has massively gone downhill.

The last time we ordered was July 2024, and this is when I made my previous review. This can still be seen below. At that time it was a 5 star review.

We ordered at 4:20pm, in hopes of receiving the food by 5:15pm as my kids usually eat at 5:30pm. Given that that they’re not very well, I decided they could eat and have an early night.

The food arrived at 6:08pm and my kids have subsequently ended up going to bed later than a normal night because of this. This is despite us ordering well in advance and calling up three times to check the status of the order.

The man on the phone insisted the food would be fresh since we were concerned that it would be cold as it had been (I think) about 45 mins since it left the restaurant.

I can confirm the food was lukewarm at best. The burger was grey, bland/under salted and tasted fishy to me? Honestly, I couldn’t eat it.

The chicken wings were ok, a little slimey. The buffalo sauce is not how I remember; it’s a little creamy now. Not really as enjoyable.

The drinks we selected were not the ones delivered.

Also, when the delivery driver finally arrived, my husband asked him to wait while we checked that everything was here because we’ve had at least 2 or 3 times where something has been missing. Not sure if in the past this had been an oversight by the delivery driver or not, but I don’t see why he couldn’t give us 30 seconds of his time given that we waited literally over an hour for them. He pretty much refused and said that if anything’s missing they’ll give us a drink? Not the right answer to me, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you don’t have the delivery drivers, DON’T offer delivery. 🙂‍↔️

Also, the way the food was packaged was weird. There was a bag full of food. Then another small bag. We assumed this small bag must be the cheesecakes, alas we were wrong. One lone box of chicken wings. The cheesecakes were in the other bag amongst all the hot (lukewarm) food.🤦🏻‍♀️

Based on this most recent experience, we won’t be ordering from here again.

We’ve ordered from Gourmet Burger Joint several times now and each time we know it’s gonna be great.

The burgers are always fresh and hefty. They get some lovely browning on the meat, no grey patties round here! I have resolved to remove lettuce from my burger because it’s consistently delivered soggy. Only due to how piping on the burgers are when they arrive. Not the restaurants fault at all!

The chips are also crispy and fresh, and I love that they have started sending them in boxes with steam holes in.

The wings are perfect every time. Nice white bones and the meat slides off. They’re also a normal size! I get pretty gagged out by wings the size of legs that are clearly GMO.

The popcorn chicken pieces are great for kids, tasty, juicy and can be popped in the mouth whole - minimising mess!

Sadly forgot to order a cheesecake last time because I’ve also recently discovered that they’re...

Spent a little time in Newport Pagnell today, which afforded me a little time to gaze through some shop windows. I stumbled across a quaint eatery, Gourmet Burger Joint. The aroma seeping through the Arcade, filled my nostrils which rumbled my tummy. I floated towards the entrance and was greeted pleasantly by the staff, all of whom appeared welcoming although busy either preparing, cooking or serving, yet found the time to acknowledge my existence. I ordered my burgers for my wife, son and I and was asked to wait 15 minutes while the freshly prepared the burgers on brioche toasted buns. Within 10 minutes my perfect burger was presented. The taste was every bit as I had imagined, better than any I have tried in years. I'm not saying I'm a burger connoisseur, but can appreciate quality and perfection when presented. To the chaps in Gourmet burger joint, thank you. Thank you for the welcoming and accommodating manner and of course, the delightful, delicious burger. The pleasure...

I’ve been visiting this burger joint because it is HALAL however after the most recent experience, I won’t be returning.

Previous good experiences and found the owners to be friendly on the surface however after a disappointing experience this weekend with missing ingredients from part of my order, I messaged them on Facebook and was met with a lot of hostility.

Negative points 🔴Long waits and difficult to order online 🔴missing ingredients from beef bacon burger (no bacon and we live too far away to just drive back 🔴they don’t wash the lettuce - my husband observed them chopping straight into a whole lettuce 🔴current pandemic and no gloves used to fish gherkins out of jars or for assembling food - they say this is not a requirement but many other food providers ARE and it makes consumers feel more comfortable 🔴extremely agressive, hostile attitude when approached on social media and basically told to stay away
