Update 25/06/24: The owner replied with certain tendentious assertions that need qualification:
1 Our order We had a shared mixed starter platter + 1 x fried corn fritters for starters. We then had 1 x massaman curry + rice and 1 x beef rendang curry + rice plus 1 x plate of mixed veg. My wife had 1 x small (20cl) bottle of prosecco and I had 1 x gin & tonic. Altogether, this cost £88.85 which, for what it was (certainly NOTHING LIKE what 4 people would order), we found it to be a bit pricey.
2 Parking Even though it was a quiet Tuesday evening, the few parking spaces in the street outside the restaurant were all full. (To be clear, none are reserved for the restaurant users) The church courtyard was also full (and, anyway, residents of the adjacent cottages don't thank non-residents for parking there) The carparks off Tickford Street were also completely full so we had to park in NPMC car park which is 1/4-mile away.
I believe my comments were perfectly fair & accurate and would encourage the restaurant owner to take them at face value & react accordingly, rather than suggest they were not correct in some way, it appears to me, to disingenuously evade the substance of my review.
From our personal perspective as customers who eat out at least once a week in the MK area, whilst the experience we had wasn't "bad", we believe there are many other restaurants offering better quality food and service at lower prices and on the basis of this experience, we don't intend going back any time in the immediate future.
Original review: A range of SE Asian food is available from this restaurant (not just Thai), albeit we found it a bit pricey for what it was. (£90 for 2 people) Very limited parking made it also a little bit...
Read moreCheap ok food. Edit: I personally think if you want Thai food in Milton Keynes you should go to Thai modern in town centre. For me it was 3 stars (it is ok) as I thought there was not much to tell but the owner reply wanting more to go on, so I give it an other go and now I am thinking about it, I think it is closer to "not for me" (2 stars).
From memory, the place are very pack and table are very small so it is quite unconfutable, I remember we keep having to pick the menu back up from the floor as we keep knocking it off the table. The service were chaotic, for example the waiter completely forgot to take my order for drink after taking order from the rest of the table. As for drink, my friend has an issue with his drink, he has the same bear I ordered but for whatever reason his looked stale and taste strange, he is one of those that "too polite" to ask for a replacement so he survived on water all night. As for food, when I say cheap ok food, I mean the ingredients are cheap, to me they are trying to get the cheapest ingredients possible with little care about how it effect the taste. So everything tasted liked they brought some Thai curry paste from the shop add whatever veg they could find and call it Thai curry. For example the "Thai" green curry is missing a lot of what you would expect for a real Thai restaurant like Thai eggplant and pea aubergine. The truth is I would stay away form this place as there are better food and experience else where, all without being pressured by the owner to do a book report to justify why I think his...
Read moreDecided to try this restaurant owing to the high ratings. But what a mistake that was! Overall, a very disappointing experience. The service was mediocre. We asked for a second serving of chilli oil, any Asian restaurant would give you some as default, but here only after it was brought to our table we were told that we will be charged for it, and that only the first serving which consisted of a tiny spoon of chilli oil is free. Baffling. Starters were bland! Golden bags were basically plain chicken and vegetables stuffed in deep fried filo, zero flavour whatsoever. Salt and pepper squid was basically plain deep fried squid, again, zero flavour. The mains were highly disappointing. The fried tofu in the green tofu curry was clearly out of a packet and tasted medicinal. We ordered the vegetarian drunken noodles without egg, but it was served WITH egg, which we then had to send back. The egg fried rice was seriously over cooked, basically mush, and turned into a paste when eaten, which again we had to send back. The drunken noodles were ridiculously spicy and we couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites of it, and we were all Asians dining there with very high spice tolerances. And lastly, the sticky rice was served in a plastic bag… Once our food was served it’s like they forgot us. We sat waiting for someone to attend to us after the mains for a long time. Even getting the bill took ages after we requested it. Terrible experience overall. There are other Thai restaurants in MK which are 10 times better and far more authentic...
