Britannia Thai — Restaurant in New Forest

Food is fantastic & served quickly, however, this was the second time we have been here (as locals) & been made to feel unwelcome & rushed! Google clearly states opening times until 10.30pm Friday & Saturday! We arrive just after 9 on both occasions, the first time requested we take away, to be told the kitchen closes at 10, which is fair enough it’s not taking us long to order & eat a main meal as only 2 of us..but then proceed to get the hoover out at 9.50pm whilst we are eating..very frosty reception as seems they only want the early bird trade & not those of us that work full time & like to eat a little later.. both occasions we were respectful & ordered only one drink so as we were not lingering but do not expect to be given the bums rush way before closing time.. disappointing as food is lovely but we will take out custom...

After visiting for many years. This will be out last visit. Booked for Mother’s Day.. was able to book for 2pm. (We had no idea they close at 3, just booked one of the options available) got a confirmation via text asking to confirm which we did. Arrived and within min of sitting down we were bombarded with “we close at 3 so chose quickly” asked for our starters and mains, as we were eating was asking twice what we want for desert? We hadn’t finished when they started hoovering. Wasn’t even in the restaurant for a full hour! Disgusting service! However! Credit where it is due.. the food is still wonderful. It’s situated in the village. We booked a table for a Friday evening. Plenty of free parking but can be busy but there is street parking. It was fairly busy but the service was good. First we ordered drinks then looked at the menu. We had starters, I had Chicken Satay with the cashew nut sauce, very tasty. Then Tamarind Duck with extra plain noodles for the main, plenty of it & again delicious. We might have had room for a dessert as we did look at the menu but there wasn’t enough there to entice us.
