Disappointing visit after potential new ownership?

I recently revisited this Italian restaurant for the fourth time, and unfortunately, it seems things have changed significantly, perhaps due to new ownership. My last review was a glowing 5 stars, praising the exceptional food and cozy atmosphere. However, this visit was extremely disappointing.

The pizzas, which were once the best I've had outside of Italy, were dry and overcooked. The quality and flavor that previously set this place apart were nowhere to be found. It was a stark contrast to the wonderful experiences we had in the past.

I'm saddened to say that this visit did not live up to the high standards the restaurant once had. Here's hoping they can return to their former glory, but for now, I can only give them 2 stars.

Below is my previous 5 star review for this restaurant for 2023 My experience at this Italian restaurant was nothing short of exceptional.

From the moment we entered, the cozy atmosphere and charming decor set the stage for a fantastic dining experience.

The menu boasted a great range of Italian dishes and attentive staff ensured a great evening. The food itself was outstanding, and I have to say this was the best pizza I’ve had outside of Italy. This restaurant effortlessly earns a well-deserved 5-star rating for delivering an outstanding blend of ambiance, service, and, most importantly, great Italian food.

I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a true...

Overall, I was really impressed with eatPIZZA. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with warm lighting and friendly staff. The restaurant had a nice mix of seating options, including booths and a basement area for more privacy.

But of course, the most important thing was the pizza itself. And I have to say, eatPIZZA did not disappoint. I ordered a pepperoni pizza to share with some friends, and it was delicious. The crust was crispy and had just the right amount of chewiness, and the sauce had a rich tomato flavor that complemented the toppings nicely. The cheese was gooey and melty, and the pepperoni was crispy around the edges.

One thing I particularly appreciated about eatPIZZA was their willingness to customize our pizza order. One of my friends is a vegetarian, and they were happy to add some veggies on top of a Margherita. And they were happy to accommodate a couple of other minor tweaks we requested as well.

Overall, I would definitely recommend eatPIZZA to anyone in the area looking for a great pizza experience. The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly and accommodating, and most importantly, the pizza was delicious. I would...

The food was delicious and a 5 star. The staff were nice and the service was okay. The only reasons we didn't put 5 were the following two points:

  1. We weren't told about the Sunday prices being different from the menu. We only found that out on our bill and then when we left we saw the poster on the window (away from the direction we came into the restaurant - so we didn't notice it at the start). It would have been nice to be told prior to ordering.

  2. While seated, they were organising the tables, which is obviously fine, but instead of being quiet the person threw down a large handful of cutlery onto a table in preparation for putting it on all the other tables. I accept the atmosphere wasn't a romantic one at the time as it was during the day but there were still people eating and in conversation.

Overall, they are minor things and probably doesn't happen often. Just thought I'd feed back in case it helps. The staff were friendly and the food was great. The prices did seem high but the quality and taste backed it up and they were worth the money. I would definitely go back when I'm...

I’ve spent a lot of time in Italy. This is not an authentic pizza however it is edible, just. Would I have another, probably not. It just needs a bit more effort I’m afraid. A hotter oven perhaps. If you had a wood fired oven then you might have a viable pizza with the base you use but I think you need to perhaps visit Naples and see how an authentic pizza should be. I wouldn’t normally bother commenting however at the price you charge it should be right and it annoys me that you think you can charge as you do. Currently it is not a good pizza and I am sorry to say that. I also ordered fries. They were hot which I appreciate but just the end bits from the bottom of a frozen bag it is just not good enough for me sorry. I will add that I really really hope you do not use an Nespresso machine I was looking at in the corner of your bar for customers however I did not ask for coffee.

We went there for family meal of 6 on Saturday night. The food was absolutely fantastic and was one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted with a light an airy dough base and the freshest tasting toppings, you will be hard pushed to find much better as these were perfect. All of us had a different variety of pizza and they were all a work of art and tasted superb. The calamari starter is a must, it is quite possibly the finest I have ever tasted and melts in the mouth. Forget all the major branded pizza restaurant chains as none can offer a proper Italian style pizza to compare to this restaurant. A real foodies heaven, with very engaging staff.

We had a lovely time at EatPizza with my friends while visiting Lymington. We were enjoying a glass of Prosecco and couldn’t decide which pizza to go for, as there was such a big variety on the menu. The staff kindly suggested the seafood pizza to pair with our Prosecco, and it was the perfect match! The thin crust was absolutely lovely, and we shared it along with a delicious rocket salad. One of our friends ordered the calzone with extra ham and mushrooms, which tasted amazing. The fresh food was truly tasty, and the atmosphere was vibrant, though a little busy – now we know why, the food here really deserves five stars!
