After wandering thru' the town of Lymington, taking in the sites of the various shops we,my, wife and her sister over on holiday from Canada, decided to take some refreshments. As by this time we were at the Kings Head which displayed all the charm of an olde world English pub we decided that, this was were we'd like to have a coffee and some lunch. The food, we all agreed was very nice and generous, but, the coffee, well,as we were all quite dry decided to have coffee before our food, my wife ordered at the bar and returned to us at the table saying " that was quite expensive at £7.50", I looked through the menu and said " well it is for a cafetiere" in a few minutes the coffee arrived 1 coffee pot and 3 small cups, which were barely filled from the cafetiere, it was only reasonable in taste and after the meal I asked if the other two pots had been forgotten and the very polite waitress said no that it was a pot for three people, the moral here is spend a little more on a pint of good ale, at least your thirst will be quenched. I'm not deterred from visiting Lymington again for it's a beautiful little town, but the Kings Head will be...
Read moreMy family and I always visit Lymington A couple of weeks before Christmas We visit the local shops and the market . We have been doing this for at least five years now each time we visit the King's Head for lunch Their are seven adults and one baby in our party .we arrived at the pub at 3pm on a sat and we did struggle to find a table We ordered our drinks and my daughter asked for a glass of mulled wine ..which was only half full it had no fruit in it and they charged £6 per glass which was very expensive and nothing special in previous years my family have enjoyed the bacon and brie doorstop sandwiches This year they weren't on the menu Instead we were offered greasy smoked chicken sandwiches on med sliced supermarket bread and a plate of cheesy chips off which I could count . Very poor standard and very stingy portions . We used to really like this pub But I fear that it must be under new management as it was very poor food and service and seems to be run unprofessional by novice bar and waiting staff . It's a shame as it's such a...
Read moreVisited for dinner on the 17th Feb. What a fantastic night. It's an incredibly cosy pub, which always has a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent- I didn't get the name of the woman who served us (wore glasses and very funny), but she was really lovely and perfectly advised on options through the night. The choice of wine is good, but the food was simply exceptional. I had one of the specials (pork wrapped in parma ham, potato fondant, sautéed cabbage and pancetta, with an apple glaze and french mustard jus thing!), and it was one of the BEST meals I've ever had in my life. I could have eaten another immediately afterwards (which wasn't down to the portion size!). Our overall bill inc tip was £60pp, but our choice of wine skewed this. The food is incredible value for money. We've had a few meals here (sausage and mash, scampi, signature fish and chips are brilliant too), and it always delivers. Whenever we're in Lymington to visit family, we always try to visit here....
