Attending a meeting at this lovely café today, I couldn’t have been more impressed. Sam and Stu run the Larder with professionalism & a clear love of healthy but delicious food. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with a nice vibe created by interesting art works, soothing music, and thoughtful decor. The clientele was varied, and relaxed, and it appeared that many are already regulars. The food is unique in Barnstaple, with a wide ranging salad plate (you choose the size plate then load it with the different salad choices), interesting and droolsome snacks and lunches/brunches, and seriously the best cake I’ve eaten in North Devon (orange and almond cake). Though I was attending a meeting, I can see why clubs choose to meet here, and lone diners, too. It feels like a really inclusive, comfortable space. Sam and Stu were very flexible and welcoming, and supported the needs of my table. This is exactly the sort of establishment Barnstaple needed - high quality food, with healthy, interesting flavours, yet the indulgent cakes, too. There’s a big range of coffees and teas. And the ambience, and staff, are neurodivergent-friendly. There is one small step for wheelchairs users, a photograph is included for information on this. This is the ideal place for lone diners, families, or meetings. We ordered lots - the salads, the ploughmans, the orange & almond cake, the nut loaf, the oear and chocolate cake, a fruity smoothie, Earl Grey, and English Breakfast tea and really loved it all. The best thing of all? It didn’t feel unhealthy, there was zero guilt attached, and my Zoe didn’t go above 7!! We highly recommend this delightful café and are excited to have such a fresh choice in North Devon. It really is a...

This place is amazing!! Everything is made from scratch and I wanted it all. We went for the salad plate and it was divine - I only wish I had been brave enough to fill my plate higher (you help yourself) as it was all so delicious! The chef really knows food, everything worked beautifully together. And it was all healthy and wholesome, lots of veg and grains. They were clear about what I would be able to have with my allergy. The cakes looked divine too - I tried to come back to get one but they were closed. My Mum didn’t like her coconut latte but my oat flat white was great. The place is large but cosy and decorated well, and the staff are friendly. Everything is gluten free and lots of vegan options. It was my first visit but definitely will...

Owners are incredibly lovely, had a wonderful chat with both of them about how they opened the place and how it operates. The place advertises that it has GF options but everything made in house is GLUTEN FREE! I’m coeliac and travelling so to hear this made my day!

I got the salad plate and selected from their self service salad bar which is unlike other salad bars, every item is an interesting flavour concoction and was just such a treat for someone who is used to making do with what ever single item is suitable for coeliacs.

Coffee delicious.

Couldn’t not do a cake given that I CAN, raspberry and coconut muffin? Yes please.

Cannot recommend especially for coeliacs or gluten...
