tl;dr - a glorious, outdoor-only shack serving the very best seafood in north Devon. There are lots of average places to eat in north Devon, particularly in the tourist areas. But step away from them and you find gems like the Glorious Oyster. Wonderful menu of fresh seafood including crab, oysters and local fish. Small children’s menu but they have plenty of high chairs and a range of toys to keep little ones entertained. All food comes from local suppliers (full list on a blackboard) including the great coffee. Service is very quick, and the portions were generous although there are few side dishes - don’t come here expecting fish and chips. Definitely worth seeking out. Check on social media if they’re open though!

This was sourced by my younger sister, who found an absolute gem. For mid October, the weather was AMAZING and only added to our experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The menu changes constantly and everything was very fresh. We had enjoyed crab rolls and lobster bisque. We ordered a side of cockles and whelks. Cockles were lovely and the whelks were HUGE, a little chewy. Lobster bisque didn’t topple the Santa Barbra lobster bisque, but was very delicious. The crab meat was enjoyable with more brown than white meat. Overall, the experience baroque and quirky. Top Tip: don’t sit near the road. The dust from the cars makes things crunchy.

Lovely place for a bite to eat near the beach, perfect for sea good lovers. Relaxed atmosphere. Resonable prices for quality food and friendly customer service. Outdoor seating covered by small marquee. Nice selection of light bites, drinks and cocktails (wish i had had a bloody mary with my oysters!). Oysters are 1 for 3.75 or 6 for £18, they were served with shalott vinegar, chilli gin vinegar, lemon and tabasco, we tried one with each. Limited parking nearby and pay and display parking also available. Would 100% go again

GLORIOUS!!!!!! Finally!!! I traipsed around Cornwall, ever hopeful of finding somewhere to enjoy some seafood. In my head I wanted a no-frills setting, cool, earthy, beach vibe/location and fresh shellfish/fish. I returned to Devon none the wiser. Ironic that I needn't have looked any further than Instow. Who knew!!?? This wonderful place, tucked just off of the road into Instow beach car Park (also cricket club entrance) is my idea of food heaven. Crab, lobster, Skate cheeks etc etc. Its all locally caught and the menu changes accordingly. My wonderful wife had crab salad which was amazing, white and brown crab meat (lots of it) served in its shell, lovely bread, olives, and a wild salad which was the best salad I've ever eaten. The staff are fabulous and passionate about their brilliant business. You sit outside and and just eat like a king/Queen. A couple next to us pulled out a bottle of champagne from their car and sat eating lovely fresh Oysters and Champagne!!! Fab!! Love this place....p.s its really good value!! We loved...

Great place for a snack, it does get busy especially when it’s a nice day as it’s outside eating near the beach. The car park is free next to the cafe but there is only about 4 spaces. The public car park is a bit expensive and the pot holes are terrible (you need to be driving a tank to get through them!!!😡). You need to try this place if you are in the area but be prepared the cost of drinks and food it quite expensive for a beach shack cafe, but the food is good although I think the menu is a bit limited and some of the food severed is seasonal. They do source local and good quality produce especially when you see the chef coming out to cut herbs from the pots around the shack. Overall a nice place to eat and have a drink or even just...
