The Champ — Restaurant in Torridge District

The heart of Appledore … staff were so friendly when we first arrived and went over and above to make us welcome, we have an 8 year old so pubs can easily become boring, but he was made especially welcome by staff and he really enjoyed it…. We visited regularly through our stay and enjoyed the music and great atmosphere! We were able to take local food in to the pub. While the others were crabbing on the quay I snuck off to the Champ, where I watched two pirates playing chess and drinking pints of blackcurrant. One of them, the tall one with the bandana and long hair, got up to tap dance whenever the game became particularly exciting. When I came back in the evening there was a great open mic night going on. Friendly place, and also family friendly. If you are in town, this is a place you must visit if you enjoy music and drinks. Sweetheart place. I’m in love with this place. Great vibes. Awesome performance by the musicians. The beer is great.
