This was a positive review I left some time ago & I’m sorry to say I’ve had to edit it: Was originally reviewed as; First class food. Lovely service. I’ve unfortunately had to edit this review, as my recent experience was terrible. I did a Trip adviser review & the feedback I received from the restaurant was totally incorrect and defensive. If you cannot take constructive criticism and have to come back with incorrect comments then thanks & goodbye. For the record, I have never had a free meal from your establishment. I had plastic in my main course. I left about half of the meal when I felt the sharp object in my mouth. I handed the item to the man looking after me. I told him I was on blood thinners & if I’d swallowed that, I could have been seriously ill. I obviously didn’t eat any more of the curry and rice main course. I went to the bar to pay he only took the rice from my bill, which is why I didn’t come back for a few weeks. I did come back as the curry is so nice & I thought I’d give you another try.

More recently I ordered a delivery for 7.30 pm It arrived at 6pm. I’m disabled on 2 sticks & the driver left before I could get to the door. I wasn’t expecting such an early delivery.

I rang your restaurant & the lady said she thought I had said straight away.

I definitely said 7.30 pm.

I said the driver had left anyway.

What annoyed me was that she was moaning that I hadn’t accepted the order, but I couldn’t get to the door in time.

Then she moaned about having to pay the driver again to return at 7.30pm

I rightly said it wasn’t my problem as it wasn’t my mistake.

Then I said that I give up and asked to speak to the manager or owner & she said that was her.

I said in that case don’t bother, I’ll go to another company for my meal.

Only then she offered to redeliver at her cost.

By that time I just didn’t fancy anymore hassle & said I would not accept the curry if it was delivered & that I would not be returning again. It was the lack of ownership...

Wow.!! Ordered a takeaway delivery tonight and it was all top top notch food. 2 starters, 3 curries, 2 rice, 1 bread and it was all made to the highest standard. The bloke on the other end of the phone was very respectful and didn't want to rush me off as I was enquiring about the gluten free side of things, he had all the patience in the world. The food arrived hot and the delivery driver was sound. The food was absolutely excellent and the best I have had in years. Flavours, whole spices, clean and fresh chicken unlike the processed rubbish most outlets use these days. I had the vindaloo and normally from other places it's just a dark pile of slop, this on the other hand was very aromatic and the spice just right. I really can only compliment the people that run this place, the chef and the quality of the food. This place is very different to all the others, kathmandu does not serve up slop like all the others and the people that run it are absolutely sound. All the others better step up their game or kathmandu will take all the custom. Cheers kathmandu, happy new year, thankyou for delivering quality to my door, it was £50:50 well spent and I will be trying more of your nepalese dishes soon. Please people if you order takeaway whether its Pick up or delivery just give them time to deliver the food. It's cooked fresh and worth the wait. Ishmails, Indian blues, asoka you are done with my custom, its kathmandu for me. 6 ** if could have. Keep up the standards. Absolutely...

Wow. I have been driving past this restaurant on my way to work, so for a family meal we opted to finally try it. Midweek it was busy, not empty like most places around, I mean actually busy. That says a lot these days and we all commented that people were still arriving after 7pm and even after 8pm, and that was on top of take away orders! We enjoyed the vegetable MOMO, onion bhaji, poppadoms and pickle tray, mojito mocktails, paneer Lababdar and lamb byriani. All were presented beautifully, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and balanced. There is a reason why they are busy. The food is exceptional, service attentive and the atmosphere relaxing. We were made to feel very welcome. As a side note we usually like a peshwari naan, tonight we opted for a date and ginger naan to go, and it was delicious, like stunning, and became the new firm favourite. We are looking forward to returning soon!

Terrible customer service, after placing our order for delivery we stated no vegetables with the madras and the member of staff repeated it to me to make sure the order was correct. On arrival I could clearly see my madras dish was full of onions etc. when contacting the restaurant the owner/manager called my wife a liar because her chefs told her no onions where out into my dish. My photo clearly shows they are not telling the truth which can be very dangerous for people who have food allergies. After a 10 minute discussion the lady in the phone told us the best they can do is send another dish out alone and we would have to eat the rest either cold or before the replacement arrives. I fully understand mistakes happen but when you pay for something the least a company can do is rectify mishaps and not disrespect customers.

What a gem! Who would’ve thought that just around the corner in Clay cross there would be an Indian with this quality of food. The mixed meat starter is excellent, all cooked fresh and spiced sublimely. The main course was one of the chef’s specials, with tandoori lamb served over a rich curry sauce. The spice of the sauce was spot on, and the lamb was tender and well flavoured. Definitely the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Chesterfield, potentially ever! 5*****!!
